the O20E directions state explicitly that this unit is not at all necessarily factory calibrated. So if you have expected yours to be so, right out of the box, the error has been in fact on your part. Brinsea says the O20E MUST be set beforehand by the user to get proper temps. Remember, what...

Aha, I see you do not actually have the O20E bator, which is the topic of this thread, actually. However, I never add any spare towel, cloth, felt or whatever to absorb bumps. I even do incomplete rows without anything at the end, and the eggs don't fall over.....GENTLE NOW.....! You don't...

Well, i am on day three now with another setting of 48 eggs (i have 3 O20E s). Since Nov 12 I have hatched out 141 beautiful baby chicks. Actually, i hatch in a hova 1588. I am still learning, of course, with all this incubation stuff. But at least my experience so far is that the O20E is really...

Gee, Yinnnie! Only 140!!?? If you had only had the patience, you could have at least let it go to 180: then you would have had nice pasteurized eggs!!! No pun intended, honest, but it is a shame you really got 'burned' on that unit. I really hope your other one(s) keep okay for you. I...

Been a while, but just some quick info. we all know that all of our hatching situations, etc. are different, so bear this in mind in what i say here: 1. I have three O20E units, as you know if you have read the whole thread (and have a memory). I have been a bit displeased with how this...

Quote: You know, it is a mystery what exactly the glass "should" read. You think it would be simple right? It's my opinion though that out of the box, there should be no reason to adjust it the thermostat. Brinsea has done their best to set it just right. The instructions say you shouldn't...

Hey 'bored'!! I have more to add in reply to your pleasant post 245. (not to imply that the other posts are not pleasant, of course. we are all in this together!) but no time now. I am too busy blowing the DE out of my nose after dusting all our birds today.............. never had a dustmask...

Quote: hey wait a minute. the 'book' says you can't do that!!! keep on board and let us know how it goes!! I stack in mine everytime I use it. I have never had a problem. The ones on top develop just fine. It is a hassle rotating, so I put them in cartons and am VERY careful. I also use...

i would say her pic is. very nice to see you on this thread. i really hope this thread doesn't just disappear. i want to keep it going, as a sort of ongoing 'work in progress' for all of us. i wish people would put their hatches on here, also. But i'm not the boss! again, nice to see you on...

EGG WEIGHT/MOISTURE LOSS DATA Since the avg. weight of the eggs in each unit differed by only .5g, the data listed here from Unit I suffices for the eggs in both incubators. The data here is governed by the ideal of 13% weight loss by day 21 (not 13% wt. loss by day 18, as some say, apparently...
