What brand is it? Some phones can have a custom ROM installed. I like LineageOS, as it is pretty close to stock Android, and by default comes with no Google apps. I think getting something like a Google Pixel and installing Lineage would work great. That would mean no Play Store or any Google...
Getting a phone with a local plan that you can wipe and install a custom ROM on when you get home to remove the spyware would be better than using your everyday phone.
That's awful that they do that to people.
How do you install wechat on your phones there? I assume there is no Play Store.
My Dad has this thing called a PinePhone. It is a Linux smartphone. Still a far cry from being as usable as a modern smartphone but can take phone calls and texts and web browsing. And it has privacy switches on it to disable functions. I love it but it does not do what I need. Maybe I should...
All they will see is a clip of your chooks demand treats and pooping on you and your stuff when you deny them. Very boring for them but entertaining for the chooks.
Especially trying to force tech illiterate old people to use one when all they do is open the phone, messages, and camera apps and don't know how to use the rest of the phone. Have a dentist appointment? Sign in with the app. Don't have the app? Then go on. Your teeth can rot.
I love technology...
You should probably use a different phone other than your main one for all that stuff. I may just be paranoid but I have no trust in wechat or any kind of app like that. And at that maybe just buy a phone just for trips like that and leave your real one at home in order to ensure they can't get...
From what it sounds like, lightm grew up in China and is now a US citizen. So maybe that is why lightm has the citizen card then.
Mmm, drumsticks! Josey is asleep in the coop. She will not notice that I am typing this.
That looks like a very fancy train station.
Josephine was looking at the face scanner and nodding in approval. She says she would like to know everyone's whereabouts all the time. I disagree. That is not safe at all.
Are you a Chinese citizen?
Local food is part of the experience. If I ever go to China and survive without being arrested, I will have plenty of dumplings provided I can afford them.
Oh. I forgot. Sometimes I eat cultures for breakfast. With honey on top. Mmm, yogurt...
I am typing this on a Apple keyboard connected to a Linux laptop. And I use Android.
And I could buy a cheap tablet for the price of that hotel room.
Not everything Apple stinks, and not everything Google stinks, and not everything Linux stinks.
I am a computer nut.
