I have 5 BR xEE eggs at day 20 in my incuview and just got the first pip. My rooster just hasn't been getting it done out of 15 eggs set only 5 were fertile
Ended up 8/14 for my first attempt at ducks. Pekin/Rouen mixed from my backyard flock. All went into lockdown fine so not too sure why the 6 didn't hatch.[/IMG]
Just had my first duckling hatch this morning, had to assist it had been at it over 48 hours. Thinking maybe I kept the humidity too low throughout the process because the membrane was tough. 4-more are pipped.
So 11 for 11 hatched but the last one to hatch made it out over night and died, I found it this morning hatched but lifeless, not sure what went wrong other than maybe he was in the egg too long seeing as he hatched a full day later than the rest. Still great easy results from the incuview.
Woke up to 9 of 11 hatched. I pulled them out and put them in the brooder. When I candles the other too they both look internally pipped and I could see the beak moving around in the air cell. So far I'm thrilled with the incuview, for a first timer it's been super easy to use and seems to be...
1-out and another 90%, 6 others pipped. 3 left so far with no action. The one hatched one is bombing around and rolling some of the other eggs, he was pip to zip in no time the one at 90% started 24 hours ago
I have 8 of 11 pipped now, this is the furthest test along, he's got about 1/2 of the shell open but seems to be resting again now. I can't believe he's been at it since 4pm yesterday
So I have 5 pips and the first one is getting close to busting out, have people had issues removing them as they hatch with the incuview? I just want avoid harming the other chicks by lifting the lid to take them out.
So far still just the one pip and no more progress as of yet but I just heard chirping so hoping that's a good sign. Maybe I'll luck out and wake up to at least one hatched chick in the morning.
No action yet aside from a few eggs that wobble occasionally but technically they just hit day 19 as of 5:38 tonight, guessing I may see a pip or two tomorrow. Finnie you were right it is holding 70% humidity without any fluctuation since I locked them down last night
Just put 11 well developed icelandics into lockdown, fingers crossed for a good hatch. I filled the outer tray as well as wetting the sponge. It's currently at 65% according to my incutherm thermometer/hygrometer but only about half way through the incubation dial on the incuview's built in...
Thanks for the info, just to clarify do you fill the water channels too or just dampen the sponge? I've been running between 30-40% pretty much for the whole incubation, it does seem I add water at least once a day to keep it there.
So far the temp seems to be holding fine, I have to top off the second to largest tray daily to keep the humidity around 40% but all seems to be going well so far.
Day 11 and I have 11 active developing chicks out of 13 set, fingers crossed all goes well for the hatch!
So far the incuview seems to be doing its magic. 11 of 13 seem to be progressing great. 1-clear and 1-quitter. At day 7 and hoping for a good hatch of those 11.
I'm on day four of my first incubation in an brand new incuview. I have 13 Icelandic eggs in there. The unit has been holding temp and humidity fine but I have two incutherm thermometer/hygrometers in there in opposite corners and one reads 103 and the other 101 while the incuview is dead on...
