I separate them from the flock and put them into a cage in the garage. I treat them there if needed but mostly give them good feed and quiet. Sometimes they recover and sometimes they do not. I hope yours recovers!

gape worm is from eating infected earth worms. It is actually rare for chickens to have gape worm. A more likely cause, given all of the rain, is fungal. Being in the rain will not make them sick and chickens do not catch colds so the other thing she could have would be one of the MG type of...

Yes, move the pip up and watch for ooze. The chick cans suffocate\drown because of pipping in the wrong place. Also, there is more of a chance of it hitting a vein.

Oh my! is the egg in a carton? If so, and it is pipped in the small end, you will likely need to work with that egg--the first thing to do is to move it so that the pip is up. Also make sure that there is no ooze coming out of the pip. If so, you will need to clear the goop.

No, do not worry. Internal pips can happen a couple of days before external pipping.

Also is an indication that the chicks died--swelling, rotting and etc.

It depends on the breed but yes, the temps were likely a bit high on average. You can expect hatch problems with high temps. My guess is that the thermometers are not reading correctly. I also notice that you are not mentioning temperatures in the tenths. If you do not have a thermometer that...

Feather sexing is a type of sex link crossing--it works with crossing breeds. It will not work for within a breed. Check out the sexlink thread for more information. The first post has information about it. See, you cross the breed on the left with the breed on the right...

The Broody will adjust for humidity and do just fine! At the point where we would set up for lockdown, a broody will usually pluck her feathers out--increasing humidity.

What day are you on? You may not see a pip until day 20 or even 21. I am always anxious until I see the first pip. Added: chickens will usually hatch within 24 hours of pipping. Some pip right away and some take longer.

It's too soon to make adjustments. Wait until the days on the chart. See Sally's hatching guide. Practice patients, I know! It is hard to do.:-)

I would still keep the humidity at 35%. Marans seem to do better at lower humidity levels.
