Looks blue to me. I can see why she got confused when it was a chick though.
I will try to get an updated pic of my rooster. He is really filling out now and his color looks amazing to me.
IF the blue chick is a pullet I bet you can separate her when they start to lay and the egg color will be so different. Once you figure out HER egg color you could put her back in the flock with the BCM roo and hatch the eggs separate. Did that make any sense?
Well played sir. Well played.
I trust this breeder to breed separate. I can also understand brooding them together. This breeders blue copper Marans lay some of the darkest eggs I have ever seen.
I cooked up a bunch of bacon.... but then I ate it.
I'm feeding %18 and have oyster shell out all the time. Our egg production is through the roof so I guess I thought the protein was fine. My sexlinks are just very aggressive especially when he was smaller than them. They have plenty of room...
Thank you for the feedback Don. I forgot to mention, and I'm a little embarrassed to say it, but he has a no crow collar on. That might be what is making the back/neck look funny to your eye. Next time I get pics I will take it off. He has such a high pitched crow that I'm trying to keep the...
These will have to do until I can get better pics. I think I showed you some of these. The sexlink have picked all the feathers off his legs. I may get rid of those ladies, they do not play well with others. Don, this is the same guy I posted a few weeks ago (those were old pics). You said the...
I say give it a shot.
People buy fertile eggs from Trader Joes all the time and hatch chicks from them even after refrigeration. Search google for "trader joes chicks". I couldn't believe it, but it's true.
He also has a little blood spot on his comb in the pic. There are no sprigs or anything strange on the comb. He had 6 brothers with him at the time. We culled that day and he's the only rooster in the henhouse now.
Mine hatched on 8/16 only about 4 and a half months old. And many of those months were cold and made for slower growing. I'm not expecting to see any eggs until 7 months, maybe mid April?
I think this is the guy here. It was snowing at the time I took this very bad pic. There is no white on...
I posted plenty! Just not publicly. I will try to get new pics and post them here. I was a little heavy on cockerels and I'm really glad I was. It's tough to find a good one even with top quality birds.
Congrats on the hatch! Yes you can get a chart for $4 here: http://www.maransofamericaclub.com/moac-logo-products.html Different cameras and lighting really change the color of the eggs so it's nice to see them next to the official chart. Were the eggs you posted from the pure GFF Marans...
