Rancher, you did a great job and I'm as happy as can be with my squares!! Thanks so much for hosting this. I just love the idea of squares from all over the country, each an interpretation made by the creator. And, of course, a reflection of the yarn he or she has lying around!!
Thanks again.
I'm happy (very happy ) to report that my squares arrived this morning, safe and sound. I LOVE them! I can't wait to put them all together.
I'm leaving for Vermont tomorrow to get married but will be back on Saturday. You can be sure I will start that afghan as soon as I return!
It was my understanding that we would get back one square of our own for each of the sets we submitted. Otherwise, how would the count work out? I dunno. I'm not good at math anymore. Too many years teaching first grade, I guess.
But for the record, I have NOT gotten my box of squares yet...
I love how the flower thing is building our crochet skills. I haven't started yet, but I just did a flower applique for a headband and it was great. I love learning new stuff. Like the crocheted chicks (my avatar). They turned out to be so easy!
Rancher, thanks so much for doing this. I'm very excited to receive my squares. I have a plan for the blanket. Which doesn't include it being hijacked by my daughter like the last one!
Anyone else in for the flower square swap? That one should be awesome!
My mother-in-law used to sing it to my daughter when she was a baby. When my daughter had her Sweet 16, she had a candle-lighting where certain people came up to light the 16 candles on the cake. When my in-laws came up, she had the DJ play that song. It was a beautiful moment for my in-laws...
I second that emotion.
I would say to only work on the squares if and when they provide you with some comfort and solace. I am certainly in no hurry and would rather think of you cherishing your last days with your sister than frantically crocheting (of all things).
When you do find the...
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The people I've met (or just "talk" to) through BYC are some of the nicest I've met in my life.
Is it that chickens make people nice or that nice people just like chickens??
I've decided that when I get my squares and the afghan is all put...
Just get better and do what you've got to do. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have plenty of other projects going. (and I'm guessing most everyone else does too!)
My cure for cracked hands is Burts Bees Hand Salve slathered all over my hands, then white cotton gloves before going to bed. The olive oil foot cream is great too. White socks before bed. Wake up with hands and feet like a baby's.
I have only 7 more to go on the second set I'm making. I'm heading up to Mass for the NEPC show this weekend and bringing along my crocheting (of course). Hoping to sell my crocheted chicks. Wish me luck!
Great advice, Doc.
I finally finished my 50 chicks for the NEPC show this weekend and got back to work on my second 21 squares for the swap. I should be done by next week and will send them right off.
Planning so many other projects. I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead.
