Congrats on the 15 that did hatch! Sometimes there is no way to really know what happened to some of the ones that don't make it.

Have six little Dels in the brooder now. The last egg is viable (candled to be sure I wasn't waiting for nothing and saw movement) but has not pipped yet.

Four Dels hatched, two pipped, one not pipped. Today is Day 21.

I cheat. When they are well-fluffed, I take them out, quickly, and grab shell pieces when I do that. I have one Delaware hatched, four others pipped and two not pipped that I can tell.

I love when they all start pipping. I have a 4th Delaware egg pipped. Someone should start zipping soon, for goodness sake! Day 20 is ending tonight.

Cute! A 3rd Delaware egg of the 7 has pipped. Still in Day 20. Hope the rest hurry up so I don't have to be up all night long.

Actually, I do have a backache, LOL. This never gets old.

Seems they rock from Day 18 till almost pip time. Then, they get very still, like the calm before the storm. Probably they have just grown too big to do much by that point.

Moved 7 Delawares to the hatcher just now. Two other sets are going into Day 9 (all Delawares) and Day 4 (BBS Orps, Dels and one DelxEE). Love when an egg starts rocking just after I transfer them over! Brooder is set up and ready.

Suede is a Blue Orpington and Isaac is a Delaware. Suede is usually about 13 lb so he's a very big guy, but so are his women.

I set 20 eggs seven days ago and candled tonight. Of the 12 BBS Orps, not one was developing--sadly, I think Suede is losing fertility at four years of age. His own sire lost his about this time. Usually, at least Smoky's are fertile, but not this time. The lone egg from my big hen Meg was too...
