Wow so sad to hear these stories of our chickens not making it. It is never easy. Updated on the chick that was not doing well, she pasted away in the night Friday night. I knew she wasn't doing well and I tried to feed her but all she wanted to do was sleep. I can't believe my first year...
What would that treatment be? I have medicated feed but not sure she is eating it. I saw her go to the food and looked like she pecked once or twice but really just sits in a corner. I tried to give crumbles, yogurt and eggs but she won't take it Mama tried to show her but nothing I did get some...
I did give them yogurt and eggs with crumbles yesterday but I will try to get her aside to see if she eats and I will try a dropper to see if she will take water. Yes I do feed them medicated crumbles.
Believe me I thought about giving it all up when one by one they all where dying. I was heart broken and cried over these birds. I just don't know if I can get tough. I lost pretty much my whole flock. I got 4 and one died couple weeks after I got them and got a replacement so out of 5 chickens...
Thank you for that post. Make sense. It is a disease that just won't go away. Sure is an awful disease. I don't think I have the heart to cull these guys. I just need to "farm up" as I have been told and realize I may lose some and that is hard for me. I get so attached. I guess I am fearful of...
I appreciate all the feed back I have some thinking to do. The reason why the State Poultry lab is telling me to cull is that I have a small flock (only 6) and since I had three of my four chickens die my chances with unvaccinated chicks getting Marek's is high. Seems like all the stories I am...
Wow so sorry you lost almost 20 birds. This is really a horrible disease for birds. I thought I was doing the right thing by getting them locally since I thought shipping baby chicks and such a young age was so stressful. But I was told by the Dept of Ag in my county that most small back yard...
I know. That is my problem. The State poultry lab suggested I cull but their is no attachment with them. I also know I probably could give the chicks back to the breeder but not sure that is responsible since these guys have already been exposed. I keep going back and forth with this and it's...
Hello I am new to this forum (joined last night) and posted a question last night and was told I should go on here and ask for advice. I am also new to having chickens. It has been a very heart wrenching ordeal for me so far. I got 4 baby chicks last year which I thought where vaccinated form a...
