a couple pipped but died before hatching, i candled a couple that hadn't pipped 5 days after hatch date and saw movement so i left them a while longer. 2 days later candled again and all were dead. They were all fully developed. Not sure what happened.
40 bobwhite eggs, 3 hatched one died about 10 hrs old. 4 never developed. Couple pipped but never hatched the rest died in shell. Humidity and temperature were constant aside from one short drop to about 50 percent...so not sure the issue. Sad though. The coturnix eggs that had temperature...
I butchered off ten males so that should help. I had one roo per hen and it was way too much stress on the ladies. I didn't realize i had that many roos until i started sorting them out.
3 so far from 30 eggs one more pipped. The eggs were from my birds and had been sitting about 2 weeks so we'll see what happens. might be interested in a few of your chicks. 35 bobwhites due tomorrow. :)
just put 40 eggs from my bobwhites in the incubator. I have 2 male and 3 females. some of the eggs are around a month old and all are developing so it's possible for older eggs to develop. Hoping they hatch. I think it depends on how and where they are stored before incubation.
Nice. :) i might be getting two more wild chicks someone saved from a cat but they are a 3 hour drive from here so i don't know. Can't really afford the gas.
I'm thinking if i put the light bulb towards the bottom over a water pan it will Work without having to install a fan, since heat rises but putting in a fan shouldn't be too hard either. You might just have to make a wood box your Turners fit in and making the mini fridge the Hatcher.
I'm not sure my Turner will fit or not. I haven't tried yet. This one is like a camp fridge. You put ice in to keep things cold. No motor or anything. Basically a fancy cooler
