Yes that is where they were hurt, under their wing just on one side. But when I checked his spur that would go on that side nothing was sharp. The spurs are round like the end of a finger and are maybe 1/2 to 1" long. Where do you get the aprons from? I bought one for another hen last year but...

That's ok. I started a new thread. Maybe I did it right. I just thought to ask here because my rooster and hens are Buckeyes so I was looking for experience from other breeders of Buckeyes.

I was told to start a new thread so I guess I wasn't supposed to post on here. Their spurs are small and round so I don't think it was the spurs. I live in GA and it's already warm during the day so saddle aprons would probably be too hot. Thank you for your advice.

Has anyone else had problems with their Buckeye Rooster's nails cutting their hens? I don't know if he is just too big/heavy for the hens or what. Even though his nails didn't seem sharp to me I used a Dremel to round them out so they are not sharp at all. I had to separate the rooster from the...

I do love Gamefowl and when I found out that the Buckeye had Game in their background I was not surprised. This made me love the Buckeye even more. They are big, beautiful and smart. All traits that are very important to me. I hope to always have Game and Buckeyes in my chicken raising future.

Sorry I was a vendor at a local festival today so I've been busy the last few days. She is better. I think she had a weird thing with her egg laying. She just started to lay about a week ago. The morning after her acting strange I found egg yolk where she had been roosting so I believe she laid...

Her crop seemed empty last night and she did not want to be away from the flock. She pitched a fit so I put her back with them after getting some meds down her. I'm not sure what was wrong but she seems better this morning. She was in the nest box earlier. I had to go to town so I'm about to go...

No the little one with the white earlobes isn't the toppy I mentioned. That one was killed by a neighbor's dog. The one with Toppy was a beautiful rooster with the feathers coming up out of the head like a crest. You think the BB Red isn't pure? I've seen other BB Reds and he looks like them...

Thanks for everyone's input. I now have the single comb Buckeye hen sick. She is just standing around. Doesn't feel like she has eaten much. She just started laying last week so I'm wondering if she is egg bound. I'm going to see what I can do for her tonight. Let me know if y'all have any...

All of our Gamefowl came from our friends and neighbors. They had a family thing early last year and had to leave for a while so they had to sell their birds and had the Game and a few EEs left so we got the Game and EEs. We had a beautiful Toppy Game rooster that we got from them but another...

I have been thinking these are his parents too but the black is throwing me off. I figure he got the white earlobes and the colorful feathering from the dad and the height from mom. He is as tall as our oldest Buckeye rooster and walks just like him. I can't remember if I said that there have...

He has a lot of black with the white and gold throughout. The white on the earlobes could be from the little Gamefowl rooster. Got a new picture of him this morning. The sun was shining on him but you can still see the white.

I got a short video of him this morning! Some of our chickens usually run from me when I have a camera in my hand. Here is the Game hen. She is bantam sized.

Guess I should have posted pictures of our Buckeye hen and rooster in that area. Sorry I only have an older picture of her and it's not really showing what she looks like. He is trying to grow back his tail. They've been going through a molt. He looks red in this picture with the sun on him but...

I really don't think he has EE in him. Our EEs have the slate colored legs and he has the yellow like the Buckeye. Here are our two Game Roosters

Ok. Thank you! I will try to get better pictures of him tomorrow and post them. He is 27 weeks old. I have 3 Silkie roosters and 3 Silkie in that area but there is no way he has Silkie in him so not listing those. Possible parents: ROOSTERS 1 Buckeye 2 Gamefowl HENS 1 Buckeye 1 Red...

Wow, he is beautiful! Got me thinking. Would it be ok if I posted a picture of a rooster I have that I can not for the life of me figure out his parentage? I hatched him and two others just like him from my barnyard mix of chickens. We have a buckeye rooster and hen running around with other...

I loved reading the Buckeye Breed history on American Buckeye Club site. http://americanbuckeyeclub.blogspot.com/p/breed-history.html It does say close to the bottom of the page in a *Note that Indian Games are known today as Cornish or Cornish Games.
