today I noticed one of my ducks whimsey acts like he cant stand or walk, he is just laying and and he kind of drags himself around. His legs like crumple back and he acts like he cant stand up on them or anything?? I put his food and water next to him but I dont know whats wrong with him, please help!

How old is he? Any chance he could have been injured? What has his diet been like?

he is 1 year old and i feed him dumor pellet feed from tractor supply. it doesnt look like anything happened to him i looked at his feet and they dont look visibly like anything is wrong with him, he is just sitting where i set him last next to his food and water and his feet are turned back and if i try to get him to stand he sits back down and when he tries to move them they like crumple up i dont know he just acts like he cant stand up on them

It could be some kind of toxin like botulism.

Here is instruction on flushes.

But it could be something else. Is Whimsy for sure a boy duck? Sometimes female ducks get eggs stuck inside them, and it pinches a nerve and they cannot stand. That's egg binding. Not sure how familiar you are with duck medical problems...

Hugs.

Please send an update, @weedturtle

Im sure he is a boy duck because he mates with 2 other female ducks i have, I just went and checked on him and he acts like he is just weak, he doesnt really move his wings like he has very much energy and he seems lethargic. I have some duck electrolytes I put into his water. And he hasnt been around any dead things or anything I would think would give him botulism.

and i didnt see any instructions for flushes if you could please add them here, thank you so much

Could be an infection. A good duck vet is best, and I know it is not always possible. But ducks will hide infection until it is very far along. So you may need to give antibiotics.

Could be parasites - any vet can have a fecal sample tested for parasites, and in that case you would need the appropriate medicine for that.

Might be a fungal infection, in which case you would need anti fungal medication.

Oregano is antimicrobial. You might make an oregano tea and add that to the drinking water. Just a teaspoon of dry oregano in a cup of boiling water, let that cool, and pour into a quart of fresh drinking water overnight. This is not scientific, perhaps you can find directions for something more precise somewhere, but it is what I would try at this point.

It could be metal toxicity - that can be treated, but it really would need a knowledgeable vet to prescribe the proper kind and amount of chelating agent and possibly other medication.

Prayers.

i gave him the oregano tea and he is drinking it, but he acts like he cant even sit properly, his legs are like turned back behind him and he flops over? and he keeps opening his mouth wide after drinking. he just managed to sit normally but a second ago but now he flopping back and forth and his legs are stretched out behind him and it looked like he is trying to sit normally but cant do it, he is drinking the oregano tea though.. i am going to take him to the vet if i can find out that sees ducks tomorrow but is there anymore i could do for him tonight??

How is he this morning? I hope he is still with you.

He could be having seizures - and those can be caused by a number of different things - infection, injury . . . dehydration . . .

i put him in my bathroom when i went to sleep so my dogs wouldnt eat his foood and drink his water or bother him, and he was standing up when i went in there this morning but he still acts like he cant walk.. the barn i have my horse at has chickens should i ask him if he has any anti biotics to see if that would help?

he seems to be able to stand up and take a couple steps now before losing balance and sitting back down, i searched around and found some threads with people with very similar symptoms and im going to get some poly v sol? multi viatamins and niacin and give him that and see if it helps himany more
