I just went out and collected eggs. This is what I found in one of the nest boxes. I hope it is a tripple yoker.
The LARGE egg weighs 102 grams or 3.597 ozs. The smaller egg weighs 60 grams or 2.117 ozs.

I had a 4.03 oz egg a few weeks ago, huge! But it was a double yoker. I wonder if they consider these eggs extra extra jumbo? Love them doubles...

Exceptionally small eggs are called "wind eggs" or "fart eggs". They are usually darker. Very small eggs with regular coloration are called a "Pee Wee" egg, which is an egg that is less than 42 grams. Probably most people that do weigh their eggs do it in ozs. I personally use grams.

Modern Sizes (USA)

Size Mass per egg
Jumbo Greater than 2.5 oz. or 70 g or >

Extra-Large (XL) Greater than 2.25 oz. or 64-69 g

Large (L) Greater than 2 oz. or 56-63 g

Medium (M) Greater than 1.75 oz. or 49-55 g

Small (S) Greater than 1.5 oz. or 42-48 g

Peewee Greater than 1.25 oz. or < 42 g

That is one large egg! I want to tell you about an egg one of my Black Star's layed early on. I have a portable coop with nesting boxes that are rubbermaid containers. One Friday early evening, I noticed that the lid of the box as off. I was afraid a predator had gotten in, but no, there was a very large egg in the box. I did take a picture of it although I am not posting today. Anyway, it was twice the size of our usual eggs. The next morning my DH wanted to eat it for breakfast. I cracked it open expecting a double yolker, but what we got was a yolk and another completely formed hard shelled egg! I didn't take a pic of it, cuz I never thought of taking a picture of breakfast. I then cracked open the inner egg and another yolk came out.....cool huh? We have never had it happen since.

I have had that once too with a fairly large egg where it had a smaller egg inside it. I thought I took a picture of the small egg that was inside the large egg but can't find it. My egg wasn't nearly as big as yours and was over 100 grams.
