Chloey is a young very friendly Toulouse goose. She has an area on her eye ring that is like a blood blister or kinda looks like when a dog has "cherry eye".It was a lot smaller but has gotten bigger in the last couple weeks. When she preens she breaks it open and it bleeds. Then when she feels the blood in her eye, she rubs it more onto all her feathers. I am working part-time and vets are not an option right now but I will bring her as soon as I can if nothing else is an option. We have done surgeries on Bumble foot and several different wounds through the years on all types of critters and are able to do surgery if we know how. Has anyone had this before? I was thinking maybe of making a cone for her head so she cannot rub it for a while....any ideas would be appreciated! We thought it probably needs to be cauterized but I am afraid to make her go blind. My DH says we may have to cull her...That is not an option either.Other than her breaking it open, she is fine and is extremely friendly. Here is what it looks like when she opens it up...and what I did to put pressure on it for now to try and stop the bleeding.
Here's the bandage I did to try and put a bit of pressure on it after we cleaned her off...it has cotton underneath the purple stuff.(forgot what they call it). She can only see out of one eye because I had to entirely cover the other.
