She passed on. Very upsetting.

We had yet another EE hatch today. She is all fluffed out, but the one born last Friday is pecking at her and trying to walk all over her, litteraly.

So I had to move her back to the bator for the time being. Anyone have any tips on getting an older chick to quit picking at another chick? I have a way to make another small brooder, but if this trend continues, with the staggerd hatches and each trying to pick at the younger one, I will run out of brooder (and living) space!

I had several die but I still have quite a few simply because I had some from my neighbor that she hatched. I've got 46 chicks coming from Ideal that should be here tomorrow if they come as fast as they did last time (we're only 3 hours away). So I've got a lot to preoccupy me. lol.

I did have my favorite little chick die sometime in the night last night.

She was at least two weeks old but hadn't grown at all except for having a lot of feathers. She was teeny tiny. I didn't have anywhere else to seperate her from the others and not enough equipment as far as heat lamp, feeder, water, etc to even support her. And we live 45 minutes from the nearest feed store. That's a lot of gas used up for one chick. We're gonna stock up on chick feeders and waterers when we get to the store tomorrow.

I am done hatching for this year.

I'm going to hatch more in the spring (pheasants, ducks, mille fluer chickens and more bantam cochins. It's starting to get chilly here at night now and these babies will be in house for a while or at least until I get the coop finished.

I wish it was getting chilly here! We're all excited because it's supposed to be down to 95* tomorrow and 85* friday.

After this hatch I'll try one more just because I've got some LF Cochin eggs due to me from another BYC'er. Then I've got my chicks from Ideal that are going to be in the house for a little bit. I should be good until spring with that many chicks. lol.

OH my! Im not sure where Bronson is, but my parents and sisters live in East Texas, just outside of Edom. My Mom told me about a week ago that they have had 50+ days of triple degree weather.. Were you having the same conditions? I am terribly heat sensitive due to some health problems and I would probably have died if I were still in Texas.

We had our fourth EE baby and our first banty hatch today!

I cant wait to see what the banty is. She has featherd feeties so I know she is part d'uccle. She is almost solid black except gold coloring around her eyes, so maybe part golden sbright? Too early to tell just yet but its fun to start guessing

I just hope she makes it.. She seems SO weak. More so than the others that have hatched. Even the one that herniated was FAR more lively than this banty.

Congrats to everyones successful hatches, and the ones that passed will be remembered always <3
