Been reading up on these two breeds and would like to know what is a accurate way to tell the difference between these two breeds? I have 3 either magpie or ancona and not sure what breed they are. They have the more even body color of a magpie but mottled head spots and not a perfect cap. The hen also lays creamy white color eggs. I'm not sure how much they weigh. But their bigger than my mallards. I read somewhere that a magpie will lay green eggs.

Anyone have any info??

Ill try to get a picture if I can get my phone to work,,,,lol.

These are my Magpies. They have distinctive only 2 places (cap and saddle) that have color. Ancona's have more "smattering" of color. Make sense?

Wow, what a difference. I've been reading and most that has been written on the two breeds don't have any comparison pictures. Thank you for posting the pic. Now I guess I do more research on the ancona. Thank you for the.posts.

I would agree that they are anconas.
If you look at their heads, they don't have a cap. They have smaller spots and some "speckling".
Anconas should have more spots and speckling rather than a large overall spot. But you will find some anconas to be very heavily marked and mistaken for magpies.
