My hens have been free ranging a little more and while they used to lay under a specific tree they seemed to have moved their nest. I have kept them in their tractor the last few days in hopes we can get the eggs and know where they are but now they arent laying at all (humfff) how do i find their other nest? is there some kind of secret besides hunting for it and hoping they will lead me to it (which is how we found the last nest, which had 6 eggs in it mind you!) we cant find it! Thankfully its only an acre property but man it has lots of hiding places!

I'd keep them in the tractor every day until they're done laying. Then let them out for a little exercise after they're done. Nothing's worse than having to pitch eggs because you literally have no idea how long they've been sitting there.

I once found some in summer that had started to develop since the days were 98 degrees plus. It was REALLY gross.

I agree.

daviechik, I'm having the same problem with some of my hens. We have four EE's and I haven't gotten a blue/green egg in about 2 weeks. I've been looking and looking, but still haven't found the nest. Went from getting 8-10 eggs a day to 4 a day. I don't think they'd all 4 stop laying at the same time? Plus the BCM just started laying and I haven't gotten an egg from her in the same amount of time. I'm about to go insane! I feel really bad leaving them locked up all day though :(

im starting to wonder if our weather change caused the same.. were in south florida and we were in the low to mid 70s and all three were laying everyday and now were in the low 80s and only one is laying everyday while one of my BO are only laying every couple.
