Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

Thanks for reminding me! She had it for a couple weeks and I took it down to clean it the other day, and keep forgetting to put it back! It's been in the back corner near her lamp because that's where she hangs out most often. And yes, she's the most adorable little thing, she's just having a bad feather day

ETA: I just put the mirror back in her pen.

sorry if I sounded like I was fussing at you. I bet she loves to look at herself in the mirror

Hi, it's me again!! So, Indigo is doing well and growing fast, and she LOVES peas!! She still "pages" us when she needs something, she'll chirp at regular intervals until we go pay attention to her, and if we don't come quickly enough to her satisfaction, she'll give one loud whistle! And when I take her water bowl out to clean and refill it, she gets very unhappy! She still has her bear, and when I put her in the small box so I can clean her cage, I have to put it in there with her so she'll stay calm. Anyway, some pictures! (I'm just now realizing that most of these were from the 19th lol)

After her bath...

Squirmy duck...took 3 pictures, not a single one of them was in focus...(she had been wrapped up in a towel and I was trying to get the towel off without putting her down, which is how she managed to get a wing free and beat me in the face with it haha)

And just for kicks...a few weeks ago, my boyfriend and my dad spent a couple days planning and building a coop for the big ducks, so they could have a warm shelter from the cold weather. I went out last night to take pictures of the snow, and where were they sleeping? On top of their frozen pool.

A question: the baby is about 7 weeks old. I call her a she, but I don't know if Indigo is a male or female. Any idea when I'll be able to tell a difference in the quack? She sounds kinda quiet when she's just talking to me, but it's not a froggy sound like my adult drake. I picked her up the other day and she squawked, but I don't know...I've heard around 10 weeks I'll be able to tell, is that about right?

What precious pics she sure has grown. and that pic of the 2 adults sleeping on top of their frozen pool is hilarious. I'm thinking 10-12 weeks and maybe earlier you should know, sorry since I have the quackless ducks I'm not quite sure but I think others will be able to tell you for sure. Just wanted to say hi and how cute Indigo is you too!
