Ok so I got these ducklings seven days ago they where just hatching when I got them.
So the first duckling that hatched blood spilled all over from his belly, so I put some warm water and washed it off and it stopped the bleeding.
The second day the other duckling hatched, he was a perfect boy.
So anyway, a week later, today when I came to see my ducklings and to clean their cage.
I noticed one of them had a watery eye with some goo on the eye that was transparent or some sort.
I am afraid he has a respiratory infection, and that he might spread it into his younger (gender unknown).
I don't know I did wrong, I'm new at duck raising.
His poop is also watery.
Another thing, when my ducklings eat their food (Purina duck feed) they go straight to the water bowl and spit out this white stuff into it.
I use a random lamp that is very heated and it seems to work, the bedding is paper towel which they frequently get wet, and they have a copy paper box.
They poop so much that I can smell it and that it gets all over the walls.
On the 5th day my aunt put oatmeal since we didn't have duck food, for the ducklings.
Somehow they managed to get it all over the walls and the poop seems to be stuck on the walls too.
I keep asking my family for the proper vitamins like niacin, and the proper bedding and food dishes but they always say no.
I am going to ask my mom soon.
I'm 12 years old, so please help. I don't want him to die.
And I don't want the other to get infected and die.
Right now their cuddling together and their beaks are really warm.
I also got the eggs from a hen that incubating them in the neighborhood.
I wanted ducklings and my mom agreed so I feed the muscovy hen twice a day until the eggs started to hatch.
And I took two to raise.
For the first two days I went outside with the ducklings so they can scavenge for food.

okay let me get this straight your only cleaning their cage [box] 1Xa week? these ducklings need to be able to wash their faces in to keep their faces [eyes cleaned out] and nares[noses cleaned from feed that gets stuck in them] and when ducks eat they use the water to wash it down with so probably what your seeing is some of the feed going into the water. paper towel isn't very good bedding because it's slippery and can cause them to have leg problems. I'd use either pine shaving or old clean towels [with towels they can be shook out and washed and reused. But their brooder[box needs to be kept as clean as possible. They also need a balanced diet and feeding only oat meal is not going to be it. Oats can be used along with duck food or chick starter but not alone. ducks have watery poop because they have to drink a lot of water. Now why would your family allow you to have these ducklings but not get you what you need to take care of them properly? Muscovy ducklings grow very fast and they will be too large for that box soon, maybe explain to your family how important it is to care for your ducklings properly to keep them healthy, and I'll give you the link to caring for ducklings so you can have dad or mom read it so they will know. make sure if you feed your ducklings anything other than duck starter or chick starter that they have some grit to help to chew it up, ducks don't have a way to chew oats without grit. make sure they have warmth but are too hot. also. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/750869/raising-and-caring-for-ducklings#post_10611711 Having ducklings can be fun and they make great pets but have to be cared for just like a dog or cat would be. They look to you for that care. Please get family to read this link on care them hopefully they will help you get the things you need. Did someone give you these ducklings?

I put them in warm water every 2 days to wash their face and clear their nostrils.
And no, I actually clean their cage twice, every day, every week.
And I wet the feed so the ducklings shouldn't get feed stuck in their nostrils.
No, the oatmeal was only one time thing. And I took them outside the other day to feed.
And they seem to do fine with the paper towel now since the the buttom of the box gets wet almost all the time.
Basically its like a bumpy terrain.
The ducklings have been eating the feed only for the past two days.

I got them from a mother hen that I feed since she laid her eggs.
She let me take two and the other 3 ducklings are with her.
Sadly the 6th one died trying to get of the egg.

The ducklings need to be in something that doesn't stay wet, like a big plastic tote that people use for storage.
they need a container in their brooder box with water in it to wash their faces every 2 days isn't enough. That is probably why your seeing your ducklings eye like it is.
are you giving them food and water 24/7 that's what they need especially when very young. and the box being wet is just growing bacteria, be kind of like you wetting the bed continually and not cleaning it up. Not healthy.
Did your parents know you were taking these ducklings before you did? everything you need is mentioned on the link I posted about caring for ducklings. make a list and either show it to your parents or show them the link and let them read it. also there is a picture of a waterer that is safe and cheap to make to use with ducklings. you can use a plastic butter bowl or kool whip container but they need to be able to wash their faces anytime they feel like they need too. Very important for their health. How old are your ducklings now and where do you plan to keep them when they get larger? they grow really fast.

Read the thread that Miss Lydia gave. Ducklings require a lot of care and as she said, they need to be kept in a clean environment all of the time.

They need something to dunk their heads in all of the time not only every few days. This is mandatory or you will have sick ducklings.
They need water available whenever they have feed so that they can swallow it. That is how they eat. This is also mandatory. Simply wetting the food is not enough.
They do not need to swim, especially at such a young age.
They should have food and water available 24/7 for about 8 weeks, at least.
They grow fast and are messy so plan on what you will be moving them into.
You need to watch the temperature, they should be around 80-85 degrees now. Too much heat or too little can kill young ducklings.
They are too young to forage, without a mother to teach them. Take them out but only on warm days.

What are your plans for these babies? Ducks can live 10-15 years and will need secure outdoor housing so that they are not attacked by predators.

Ok, I'll have my mom buy a big plastic container, to water dishes, pine shavings with no chemicals along with plastic in the button, and swimming time everyday.
I heard ducklings are not allow to swim for the 3 weeks until their old enough.
The thing is, I can wash the cardboard and I don't have another spare box.
