Do I have mites? what to do?

Yes messy indeed. My white rock is definitely mad at me for dusting her, I think she even started growling at me when I put her down.

I was trying to do it as quick as I could with all the flapping around and all. I'll have to clean the coop tomorrow. I got home late and it was a race with the clock to sundown. I also bought some poultry protector spray so I will spray the walls and nesting boxes when I clean them out.

Take the Poultry Protector back. I've used it and the stuff is worthless. The feed store likely carries a product called Permectrin II. Use that instead. Mix it up in a sprayer according to label directions. You'll be glad you did. You can also use it on the birds instead of Prozap dust if you decide not to dust them in 7 days.

Remove all the litter and dust in the coop. Shop vac it if you have to. Spray the walls, nests, roosts, floors, and any cracks or crevices in the coop.

Ok, I checked my roo after getting home from work today and it looks like mites/lice/whatever and it looks like the Prozap did the trick.

I'll give him and my buff o another treatment in a week. I also took out all the straw in the chicken house and nest boxes and dusted some powder in the cracks before adding new straw.

My delaware roo seemed like it pepped up a little but he still lies around on the ground alot.

Your photo was very helpful. I found lice on my Silkie tonight. I ran out and bought some Sevin and dusted her with a pantyhose with Sevin inside the toe. I tried to cover her entire body, except the head. She lives in an Eglu. I took out the bottom trays and cleaned them with Simple Green and replaced the aspen shavings. Do I need to use an insecticide inside the coop since it is plastic? I'm thinking there are not any cracks like wood.

Glad the picture helped you. My chooks don't live in an igloo but my dogs do. Since it's a hard plastic, I would scrub it with some hot soapy water (like dawn or some other dish soap). That's what I've done whenever I've had to spray my dogs for ticks/fleas.
