bought this chick from TSC listed as a “olive egger pullet” from week one I’ve been thinking it’s a cockerel due to lack of tail feathers and size of comb. Chick is now three weeks old. Any guesses what breeds were crossed to make him? What about sex?
I cannot keep cockerels! I only have two chicks so I’m hoping there is at least one pullet.
They are coming up on 3 weeks. I know that is too early but any suspicions are appreciated.
I tell them apart with the colors on their head. It’s just watered down food coloring and will grow out with...
Hi!
I need help with sexing my quail. He is 3 weeks old as of today and is the colour variant Pharaoh.
I hope these photos are enough as I don't think he'd like me trying to vent sex him 😂
Ps: he's a jumbo Japanese/Coturnix Quail
Hello! I have a 3 week old Sapphire Gem chick from Rural King and from what I understand, Sapphire Gems are sex-linked and males have a spot on the back of their head. This Gem has no spot on the back of the head…but look at the comb already coming in! Could this be a male?
Hey guys! I have an Astralorp named Charcoal who has been broody for 3 weeks, and I finally put 4 eggs under her. Will she still sit even though it's been so long? She is sitting now, all puffed up like a porcupine and clucking like mad 😊, she seems pretty dedicated, so I have a feeling she...
Hello, I recently bought 17 chicks from Meyer Hatchery for certain breeds about 3 weeks ago... going on four
I lost 6 of them 3 were dead on arrival and 1 died a week later. All are well... except this little chick here I think the one of 2 Delaware chicks I ordered and she was fine fine fine...
Hi all! So I have a Swedish Flower that is 3 weeks old. This bird is SO sweet and always jumps on my lap and takes a nap. I’m really hoping she’s a hen because I’m not allowed any roosters in my HOA. Apparently this breed is fairly rare because I can’t find much information on sexing them, so I...
I recently bought a 3 week old white sussex chick. When I first got her, I immediately put her in the brooder. note: she is on her own. Whenever I go somewhere, she starts yelping really loudly and then when I come back, she stops. Sometimes I get worried she is dying because of her loud chirps...
Hello. I have these two chicks that were sold to me as 1 Orpington and 1 buff Sussex but I don’t think those are the correct breeds I got and I’m also worried they might be roosters any ideas? 1 is 4 and a half weeks old and the other is 3 and a half weeks old. Any opinions will help. Thanks.
We have had these chicks since they hatched from eggs. This one in the front of the photo has developed a red, swollen comb. Otherwise healthy, eating and drinking, not lethargic. Has anyone ever had a chick like this? I assumed it was a rooster because of the darkened color, but then noticed...
Any guesses as to these 3 chicks sex. 1 exchanger leghorn, 1 buff orpington, 1 columbian black tail. They are 3 weeks old today. I have my suspions..... Any obvious clues? If the buff is the orange one then am I right in thinking the yellow one is a roo black tail because of its colour?
Today I brought home 3 new chicks. An Ameracauna, a White Orpington, and a Cuckoo Maran. They will be 3 weeks on Monday. It's 83.7 degrees in the room. Do I still need to provide additional heat? I have a heating pad, but I didn't put it in yet. Right now they're sleeping side by side...
We ordered nine chicks from Ideal Poultry. They are a week and 3 days old. We purchased 2 New Hampshires, 2 Black Australorps, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 Easter Eggers, along with 1 pullet surprise. We thought we had figured out the surprise but when they started feathering on their wings, that...
Hello! This is my 3 week old Self Blue d'Uccle Storm! I don't see much on line about the Self Blues so I was hoping someone here knows a little bit about sexing this cutie T IA
