Well, I guess I've made my thoughts of raising a half dozen chickens real as my 6 x 10 Woods coop is underway!
So far I've got my PT 2" x 6" and PT plywood floor built, and all of my outside walls prefabbed and ready to panel. I've gone with the windows placed and sized as per book elevations...
Hi,
My name is Elijah and i was wondering what is the best duopurpse duck breed for me. I live in a small acreage with neighbours close by so i would need a quiet breed, also a big breed because it can get pretty cold here in Canada.
Thanks
I live in Southern Ontario. All hatcheries I checked out online only carry a few standard breeds: Rhode Island Red, Leghorn, ... Like www.freyshatchery.com, pretty close to where I live.
I cannot find anywhere to get sexed day old chicks of breeds such as Silkies or Orpingtons or Easter eggers...
Hi lovely people!
I’m seeking out others in Ontario that have Muscovy ducks. I myself am near Toronto, bout an hour and a half north west in a small town.
The reason I’m asking is because there’s a small possibility I might have to rehome one of my duckies :(
It’s a long story but the gist...
Is anyone out there??

Does anyone know of hatcheries or...
Hello I am moving in about a month or two to a new town (Iroquois Falls, Ontario) where I'm finally able to own chickens. I'm hoping to find someone for this coming spring to be able to sell and ship me 3 - 4 buff Orpington hens. I cannot legally own roosters here, only hens. I have never owned...

On one side we have the ultra-rare breed whose name is the Isbar, known as the only purebred and single comb chicken that lays green eggs on earth.
On the other side we have Olive Eggers, known to most people as Rooster Marans x Ameraucana hen hybrids (though there are other cross varieties...
Hi everyone,
Im from Canada and currently in the process of building my first coop.
This forum is really informative and helpful. I’m insulating the coop because winters up here get really cold and will be making an automatic door using an actuator.
Here’s some pictures of my progress so far;
I’m looking to buy Salmon Faverolles and Svart Hona hatching eggs, but it turns out they are both very hard breeds to come by. Does anybody know of an owner or hatchery who carries eggs or chicks and ships to Canada? Thanks in advance.
I'm going to be ordering my day old white rocks and had a few questions for those of you with past experience.
The females or non-sexed are $2.30 and the males $2.50. I am thinking its worth the extra .20 per bird for a larger product, would you agree? Or is there really not much diffe
How...
Looking for turkeys, preferably Bourbon Reds, but open to other breeds, including mixes. Also looking for coturnix or button quail. Only looking for hatching eggs or day olds. Located in Windsor, Ontario, but willing to travel a bit, or I will pay or shipping. Looking for them ASAP! Thanks :)
About 6 weeks ago we brought home 6, 18 week old brown laying hens. At first the girls didn't want to go outside, and laid their eggs on the ground, but now they've go the hang of things and spend their days doing chicken stuff. However, at night they wanted to sleep in their nesting boxes...
