So I got some GLD’s from tsc and they’re about 7-8 weeks old.
Suppose to be pullets but this one’s comb and waddle look very red compared to her other 2 sisters.
Like RED.
I attatched some pics but I don’t think the pics do it any justice at how red it really is! The other 2 combs and waddles...
I bought some pullets offline and these Welsummers are a little over 2 weeks old. These 2 are much larger than the other Welsummer chick that I got in my shipment and noticed a comb already so just wanted confirmation I was sent pullets instead of cockrels?
My big australorp roo Pecker is a gentleman but his two sons are not. I’m thinking of making one Chris-Chan because he is… “enamored” with his mother and she isn’t reciprocating those feelings. The other has targeted one of my RIR hens and refuses to even flirt with other hens and mates her...
So confused as to whether these "girls" really are girls .
Balvaders are 12wks - the smaller one has flashes of green in their neck but the other one is huge with tree trunk legs.
The Rhode island red is 10wks and has some beautiful green feathers under the brown 😞
We've had chickens before...
Out of the 6 chicks I received, now they are 7 weeks old and I’m starting to doubt if they are all pullets.
Daphne my EE And copper is my black copper Maran. Daphne is larger and when she screams out her voice is different from the others. She’s always been the biggest chick but the most timid...
Hey y’all,
I have 1-2 Pullets that our main cockrel always courts around the yard, dances for and happily mates with them with their approval.
They even roost together at night.
Unfortunately this cockrel has become over confident in his roll and decided to attempt to flog my daughter twice...
I’m sure this has been discussed before but for some reason I have a really hard time using the search engine on BYC.
Nothing ever comes up of relevance to what I’m trying to search. I usually wind up googling what I’m looking for then actually getting close to an article on BYC that I need...
We really wanted bantams and they only sell them straight run. 4 out of the first 4 are boys. :th:hit:lau These are my daughter's first pets, and we raised them from babies, and we'd both like to keep all if we could. We are hoping they find a home nearby. The most handsome, a golden laced...
Cockrel...Cockrell - either way, they can be lil hormonal beasts!
PLEASE share your lil cockrels here with us and any wisdom too!
Ya get your chicks...not knowing for certain what sex they'll be. Oh the excitement as you watch, wait and hope! You spend time with them, care for them. They get to...
Hey y’all,
I have a sapphire gem I bought from TSC. He’s the lowest on the pecking order, everyone hates him, however I think he’s beautiful. He’s also the only cockerel to be black the rest are the grey color (lavender?)
I noticed on his barring he had that oil slick color I’ve seen on my...
I have 3 silkies and 1 polish that is a crowing his head off the past 2 weeks.
Today when I let them out to roam, he is literally chasing the silkies around like a mad man. He chased Vanilli right into the run, all through the run and back out again.
Then he came over to Mango and tried to...
Okay Yall I have never heard a rooster crow. Like ever.
I’ve never been around chickens much but yesterday started the first crow from one of our 11 week old cockerels.
I’m dying laughing.
I was working on the new coop screening it in when I first heard it.
My husband and I thought a chicken was...
When I bought my 4 chickens they were labelled as pullets, but I'm having my doubts about that. The two brownish ones (Blue & Echo) are Golden Comets, and the two black and white ones (Delta & Charlie) are Easter Eggers. They're all right around 2 months old, but any thoughts on if they're hens...
Hi all :)
First timer here. I’m picked up 4 chicks from our local feed store and they are all supposed to be females. I picked them up on 3/21 so I’d guess they are about 4 weeks old. Would anyone mind confirming they are indeed pullets? :) I have 2 Easter eggers, 1 silver laced Wyandotte and...
Hey !! I'm posting this with a very heavy heart, as originally, we intended to keep our possibly salmon favorelle roo, but learned recently of an anti roo fine in our area. We are out in Soddy-Daisy TN, (chattanooga) and really, really need this guy rehomed as soon as he's old enough!
Its...
Hello together!
I'm a vet student and animal enthusiast, hoping to learn a lot more about chickens, their diseases and problems on this forum. My boyfriend's family has 14 chickens (5 hybrids, 5 babies, 2 ex-batts and 3 special egg ones) and there's always something happening so I'd like to be...
We got 4 “female” chicks from TC, one turned out to be rooster. He is 5 1/2 mos old now and we cannot have a rooster where we live.
We have forever homes for all our pets, so we looked into getting “Roo” neutered.
We talked to an avian Vet. She told us they no longer recommend or perform this...
Trying to sex these two. They are ones we like but if they are male they will be in for processing tomorrow with the rest because we can’t keep another roo. Yes, they’re small. I can’t cancel with the processor a second time.
First one (first five pictures) is about 5 months old and is the...
