Hi -
One of my hens has been laying yolks and whites. Its been cold here with winter and snow, her laying slowed down. But then I noticed what looked like someone had literally cracked an egg on my porch. I don't have a picture at the moment, one of animals cleans it up before I can get to it...
Hello,
I have had a number of weird eggs laid lately but the attached picture is the most extreme example. Sorry, it is a bit gross.
Can anyone please advise what my chicken might be lacking to lay this type of egg? Or does she have worms? An internal problem? Similar bad eggs were more formed...
Hello, first time posting in a long while. I have two oddities this morning. One from an Easter egger the other from my Rouen duck. Never had eggs like this before. They have plenty of calcium and grit in their diet. Is this a result of these being laid overnight in freezing temperatures?
Hi,
I recently found two lash eggs on two separate occasions in my flock's coop. Should I be worried about this? How would I identify which one of my flock is producing them? Over the last few days one of my hens has gotten poop stuck around her backside, could this be related?
Any help would...
I posted yesterday about my very poorly ex battery hen Edith. She was worse today so I took her to the emergency vet as it’s a bank holiday. They said they would x ray and scan her to check for tumours, stuck eggs or any blockage.
All was clear and they have said she has a severe infection...
My lovely 4 year old ex battery hen has become really unwell over the last 48 hours, unfortunately due to new year and a bank holiday I can’t get to my vet until Tuesday at the earliest. Can anybody offer any advice as to what could be wrong and also how to make sure she is not in pain.
Edith...
Hey,
Can anyone figure out what these are?
I found them in a nesting box and can't figure out what they are? I'm unsure as to whether its an improperly formed egg or something else entirely.
Any help is appreciated :)
Hi all. One of my silkies, Pom Pom, has been consistently laying eggs with paper thin shells for over a week. Usually she lays every other day and the eggs have always been slightly elongated, but lately shell less and very thin shelled eggs have become much more frequent. I just had two in a...
Hello Chicken People,
I’ve posted about my egg shell problems before, but after switching to mostly Layer Pellets (as opposed to only All Flock with oyster shell/crushed egg shells available), AND trying calcium tablets as a supplement, my Hattie is now laying eggs without any shell at all (as...
Dorothy, an 11 month old white and black chicken that lays light azure blue eggs (both pictured), has laid plenty of double yolkers... But at least two have had a noticeable delineation in the shell where it's like her body added on a caboose to the egg to make even more room than usual! (See...
Hello everyone! My girls started laying last week. I am getting about two eggs a day since most of them are not ready just yet, but I just found this egg from a new hen (her first egg) outside the nesting box. It’s bigger than the ones the Sussex have been giving me, but it’s covered in spots...
Hi, I have an egg that internally pipped over 48 hours ago. After 24 hours it still hadn't externally pipped so I poked a small hole through the air cell and put it back in the bator. 24 hours later there was no progress and I could no longer hear it peeping. I began chipping away the shell and...
Hi all! One of my girls laid what appears to be 2 soft-shelled eggs at once into their poop hammock (I say it's one chicken because I collected 5 normal eggs and I've got 6 girls total). Everyone laid yesterday and they were perfectly normal. They get layer feed that has oyster shell in it and I...
So I have an egg that pipped yesterday and has now started zipping. I wasn't home when it started zipping but I came home to it lying in a pool of yellow liquid. It's still alive, I can see it breathing. Anyone know what happened?
This morning I went out to check on the coop and looked inside and just below the roosting bar I found this egg in the shavings below. Like it dropped out overnight. It appears to be just the membrane and no shell along with another much smaller start to an egg. Is this cause for concern? They...
Hi, I have looked through the forum and saw some similar posts about soft-shelled eggs, but most were about young chickens or those with health issues. One of my Lakeshore Eggers has started laying soft-shelled eggs for the past several weeks and I don't know why! We have only had a couple of...
. I have four young hen (ducks) in my flock and I was wondering if this is a fairy egg or the normal size of the breeds egg it also had a weird dark spot on it. The photo is compared to my other older layers eggs.
the four new ones are:
A Rouen, black Swedish, Ancona , and Pekin.
My chicken laid this small soft shelled egg, then laid a normal egg the next day, and next thing she lays is this monstrosity! She was having issues all day laying it then finally shot this out with an audible squelch
this is the first small softshell one ^
and then this is the weird one. This...
