Is it ok to mix Flock Party Rising chick feed, and Flock Party Egg Maker Crumbles together for adult quail?
The Chick feed has 22% Protein but the Egg Maker has only 16%
I want the higher protein but also want the calcium.
Is it a good idea to mix the to bags of feed together? Thanks so very much!!
Can I grow early Alaska Garden Peas and feed them to my chickens? Like, de shell them, and boil them? Or are they ok dry?
My chickens eat dried purple hull peas and are fine, just wondering on the early Alaska Garden Peas. Thanks!!
This is my first time raising chickens and I would REALLY appreciate any advice on this. My hen has a very large crop. I looked into sour crop and impacted crop and I don't think her crop is impacted. I'm not sure if she has a sour crop though. It's large and squishy. The last few nights when...
So, I went out to feed and put away birds this evening and I noticed one of my turkeys was "coughing" upon closer look, it looks as though it's "cheeks" are swollen. I'm finding a sinus disease, (which they will forever carry) but will it spread to my other birds? Do I need to put it down, will...
Hi,
My Plymouth Barred Rock has been limping and has rales. Any idea on what's going on?
She has been limping for over a month, and sits under the waterer (nipple type, we installed them on a Home Depot 5-gal bucket) (probably Kestin score of 2-3) and we noticed her breathing was watery (through...
Hello! I’m posting this for a friend of mine, his chicken Bonnie (red sex link, 2-3 months), suddenly stopped walking. At first it was limping but now she just lays down unmoving. Sometimes she wakes up and is active but others she is very lethargic (like in the picture attached). He’s very...
Hello all!
My duck is 7 months old and started laying on july 20. She was egg bound with her first egg and after that was laying normally. After her tenth egg, she started experiencing some worrying symptoms such as shaking, excessive panting, wings twitching (a bit spread out as well), raspy...
Hello, a few days ago we found one of our chickens (Tiffany) with some tissue outside the vent which we have concluded is a prolapse. We gave her an epsom salt bath and cleaned the area the best we could with a clean cloth. We tried to put the tissue back inside a few times but it just wouldn't...
My rooster has recently started to gasp for air and hasn’t been eating, I’ve been giving him orally water to keep him hydrated. His been inside as he is recovering from an attack. We did get him some company just like the vet had suggested, and now I am so devastated seeing him like this. Please...
Hi all!
My name is Vee & I currently reside in California. I stumbled upon this site looking for answers on raising chickens.
My father recently passed and left me his 3 acre home. He was more for the homestead life than I’ve ever been & I’m finding myself unprepared. He has over 100...
I have a hen who was kind of walking hunched over and was trying to eat and drink. She was successful in eating and drinking but she kept walking around the coop hunched over and slower than normal. Her comb and eyes are normal and she's not breathing heavily. But her entire backside under her...
What do we think she is? 4 weeks old. I got her in a rare breed assortment from MyPetChicken and I'm thinking Sumatra because of the extra long tail and bright yellow underside of her feet but I'm new to this and not totally sure.
I have an approximately 2-year old Plymouth Barred Rock hen. She has been, up til now, a perfectly healthy bird and a good layer.
Earlier this month, I noticed she was laying down a lot in the coop - I figured she was simply broody. However, her bottom was somewhat messy and she seemed...
Hi friends,
This may be a bit of a strange one...the UK government sure think it is anyway.
I am a duck Mom to two beautiful scovy boys who will be 4 soon. Due to health reasons, I have to move back to the UK from Canada and can't imagine my life without them. I've hand raised them since they...
Hello Again! I was able to confirm that the Red Pyle OEGB is for sure a Rooster. Now, I think the Phoenix could be one as well as the Silkie. The Silkie is just very feisty, and seems to want to try and pick a fight with everyone, especially the OEGB. The Phoenix just has a very large comb, and...
My chicken got bumblefoot and I have been soaking her in Epsom salt water to take it off. I irresponsibly used way to much and now paying the price. My chickens foot is now yellowish as if I cooked her, and her skin seems irritated. I have been putting on Ungüento Veterinario De La Tia in hopes...
Hi all, I am quite new to the whole world of chicks! and I have just hatched my first two chicks from an incubator. They are two different breeds: a copper maran and a cream legebar.
Any tips on how to sex them - I will attatch some photos of them.
The first three pictures are the cream...
I'm having a horrible time trying to hatch. Seems like 1 out of every 4 eggs will hatch. I have a couple white leghorn/golden wyandotte eggs. The first one hatched right at 21 days, we are at 23 days on the other egg now and I'm pretty sure it's dead. I don't want to cull it too early but it was...
Hello Everyone. First time Chicken owner here and have been feeling like quite the idiot the past few weeks. I recently purchased some chicks from my local TSC. I should have payed more attention, but that is my own fault, as I was going after “unique” and “pretty” chickens. I need help...
One of my chickens, Caramel, has had sour crop for couple of days. I have isolated her from the rest of the flocki order to treat her. I fed her only water for nearly a day but and in morning her crop is mostly empty, though a small amount of food refuses to leave the crop. I know making her...
