    2 chicks hatched on the w/e! We set 6 eggs under one hen, others couldn't make up their minds which nest to go broody in & kept leaving the eggs due to bad storms. 3 sister hens selected the one nest, which had the eggs. Of the 6 eggs, we had: 1 broke, 2 no good, 1 'dead in shell' & 2 chicks.

    New member. Husband is raising 9 Rhode Island reds in Southwest US. Hot summer cool winters. Our hens came to us as chicks in May. Laying 8 a day on average at 24 weeks. Overall it’s been a great experience!
