Hi everyone, first time poster and first time raising chicks.
We bought two blacktails (Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex) which were supposed to be sex linked hens. But I’m noticing that one is looking very different to the other. Seems to be feathering slower and darker, has a smaller tail and...
Hello everyone! I am new to keeping chickens and am looking for some insight. One of our "pullets" has been making a different sound lately than she has been before. She's a Mottled Cochin and is about 2 months old. I've attached a video of the sound (she's the black and white chicken on the...
Hello everyone! This is my first post but curious to see if you can tell if we have pullets. We got 6 Rhode Island Red chicks may 2nd and was told they were between 2 and 3 weeks old. Except they just now look appropriately 4 weeks old (to me). By their "aging" they would be 6.5 weeks old. We...
Hey so I had another post about 2 of my chickens to figure out thier breed turns out they roosters so now I want to double check that my Jersey gaint is in fact a female and well a Jersey giant
Hello all! These are my 5 week old baby chicks. Their breeds are: black australorp, barred plymouth rock, rhode island red, olive easter eggers (2 grey ladies), and a golden laced wyandotte.
I’m curious to see if anyone can sex them because I have no clue how to- they’re my first flock! Please...
Hi Everyone,
I am brand new to raising chickens, brand new to this site, and this is my first post so please be gentle.
I incubated a mixed bunch of eggs and they hatched on March 22nd, so they are now 9 weeks old. The only information I was given about the eggs was that any five toed chicks...

I’ve read so many different posts about sexing EE.. what do you all think about this girl? My daughter named her Cleo but I’m worried she might actually be a Leo. Her comb isn’t any really more pronounced or pink than any of the other girls, but I’m noticing some “reddish” spots that seem to...
Hi All!
12 weeks ago we got several day-old chicks including a "female" Ameraucana. We noticed that it has always been much larger than the others, but didn't really think anything of it, as we've never raised Ameraucanas from chicks before. However, as we are reaching the 12 week mark, we are...
I have a group of bantams (assorted) that are from our happy local farm store. Im hoping to get some advice on possible breeds or are they mixed breed. I have a few suspects for the males but would love some pro-tips
I’m trying to figure out if my welsh harlequin is a boy or a girl. She’s about a month old, so I don’t know if there’s a good way to tell yet. I’m pretty new to ducks, but the feathers that are growing in look to me like the colors on the females, and I think she’s quacking? I’m not really sure...
On the 16th evening to 17th morning of April, (approximately 3 days ago) I hatched 4 cute little barred plymouth rock chicks! (YAY!!!) :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
And being the keen researcher I am, I fell into the rabbit hole of the hundreds of posts and videos on how to identify what sex the...
Hi all please help!
I took these four chicks from one of my Kinder teachers who has chickens and also hatches eggs yearly for her students. She implied they were all hens but as they’re growing and I’m learning more I’m concerned that they are all roosters 😢
They are all about 6 weeks old

These babies are 5 weeks old.
I have one of each- Leghorn, Rhode Island Red, ameraucana (or EE??), barred rock Plymouth, and what they called a midnight majesty Maran?
I got these chicks on March 20th. They told me they were Southern Ramblers which doesn't seem to exist. They have 5 toes and dark legs, they are starting to get some light feathering on their legs. I was told they came from the same hatch. The top one(Robin) was jet black and is starting to get...
Hi, is anyone able to help identify the sex of my 2 chicks? They are about 7 weeks old, both Pekin Bantam crossed with a Frizzle. One is much smaller than the other, probably more pekin bantam than the bigger one.
Thank you
Hello everyone!
I need help identifying this breed. They are six weeks old.
My best guess is Cream Legbar Cockerels. Due to the head tuft and barring. But their shanks are grey with very slight feathering. I got them from an assortment of rare breeds by Meyer Hatchery.
CL cockerel? Or another...
This is my 15 week old Delaware Peckahontas. Isn’t that a sickle feather? No crowing but her comb & wattles are bigger than my other pullets (no other Delawares to compare to). And she/he is slightly larger than the other pullets I got at the same time.
I purchased two “Prairie Bluebell eggers” from Rural King about 10 weeks ago. They look mostly like barred rock, and probably won’t lay blue eggs...but I’ve since learned to not purchase from box stores unless you want to be surprised.
I am fairly certain that one is a pullet, but I am unsure...
