Hi all, first time posting on this thread. We just got our first baby chicks from TSC on Saturday. They were labeled as straight run production reds. They are likely a week old plus or minus a couple days at this point. We've been researching production reds, but have run into some confusing...
Hi there! This was a sexed pullet from Meyer Hatchery, hatch date January 23, so about 10 weeks old. What do you think? Cockerel or pullet? (And I apologize, not amazing pictures I know.)
I have an ameraucana that im not sure on, the breeder says female but im having my doubts. Others on here have said male so im torn in the middle. It does have a reddish wound near the beak due to being pecked through the wire mesh.
These are 5 week old barnyard mix. Interested in sex and breed. Curious if I have some roosters in the group. Because they are mixes I’m getting so confused reading stuff online. I’ll take your best guess. I’m keeping them all anyway and we shall see who crows ina couple weeks.
It’s not a huge...
Hey y’all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I have these roughly 5-5.5 week old Buff Orps who have been very difficult for a while. Any guesses on genders? Thank y’all! First 3 are chick 1, #4 and 5 are chick 2. Thanks!
Hi, i have two ameraucana chicks, im thinking cockeral but im wondering if anybody else had similar looking ones that turned out female.
Black one charges at my gfs hand and look how pink he is 😭😭
These are what I believe to Buff Brahma Bantams. They are both 5 weeks old. I have pics of both of their combs they switched places, not the same bird. Do you think they are hens? The comb area isn’t orange/ dark.
Her comb has no color still but today I noticed her waddles are very pink.
Roo or hen? (She was bought as a pullet)
She’s 6 weeks old. Anyone experience pink waddles but not the comb?
Hi everyone,
I have a bunch of chickens ranging from 8 weeks to about 16 weeks. Some are cross breeds so getting an accurate breed is nearly impossible, the others that we know are purebred.
I’m just wondering what your opinions of the sex of these chickens are and breeds if you had to give...
Ok it’s killing me…do I have all ganders? I’m not getting eggs..I have seen 2 of the white Chinese try to mate..I know the 2 brown ones are ganders and my big white one with gray butt feathers is a gander..8 geese total. HELP lol
I’m fairly sure we’ve got 1 boy and 3 girls, in saying that I could be completely Incorrect. Chicks are 6 weeks old and I’ve added photos of the roo and the likely hens.
Also still pretty curious as to what breed make up they could be. The black and white hen is clearly a mix of barred rock (?)...
Hi everyone,
After watching videos, reading blog posts, getting clued up here on the forum, we have sexed our 8-week old Silkies.

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.
Good Morning All! I got a group of satin/silkie chicks about 5 months ago. Of the 5, two are for sure roosters. They look like roosters, and they started fighting. However, I have a satin frizzle which I find very hard to sex. It’s not acting like a rooster, but that doesn’t really mean anything...
Hey guys
New Silkie owner attempting to sex my lovely 7 week old chicks. I have a suspicion that the fully white one (Lavender) and the grey one with a large comb (Nori) are roo’s. Based on behaviour.
Keen to hear what you think!
1. Name. Lavender. Fully White, large comb.
2. Name. Nori. Grey...
Hi all,
I know it’s too early to tell for sure but was hoping someone might at least have more of an idea then I do!
I got this little sexed female Pekin (or Cochin bantam I believe they are also called??) at a week old to put under a broody mamma, and “she” is now almost 4 weeks.
She was...
Hello y'all! 👋🏻
The last full week of September (about 7 weeks ago) I purchased a few chicks. Well, I say a few, my husband says a "significant" amount. 🤭 I got 3 blue stars, 3 Buff orpingtons & 7 lavender orpingtons!
Said chicks are obviously getting bigger & growing at a ridiculous rate...
