Er, this is a sorta stupid question, but, what is a gaited horse?

It'll probably be very very obvious, but I'm not very up to date with my horse terms.....

like a horse with 5 gaits walk, trot, ( i forget this one... brain blank) canter, gallop. It is special to certain breeds, for ex., standardbred, paso-fino and i am blanking on any others. haha.

A horse that has special gaits; more than just walk, trot, canter, gallop. The Paso Fino is an example, though there are more, such as the Tennessee Walking Horse, Pervian Paso, etc.

Oooooh, okay. Thank you! That makes sense.

Alright, would that make a Fox trotter a gaited horse?

Not really. The Missouri fox trotter walks with it's front legs and trots with it's hind, creating a very smooth ride. Peruvian horses trace a straight line with their back legs, one in front of the other, and swing their forelegs outward in a motion that looks like a swimmers arms. Don't ask me how they do it, because I have no idea. The feeling is instead of bouncing you, it rolls your stomach and back, which is much more comfy. Gaited horses also usually have faster general gaits than most horses.

I don't believe that they have three extras like Pasos (Just one), but this is off of the top of my head.
