I've read both and I have to say The Hobbit was ok/good and I hated The Lord of the Rings.

What did you not like in LOTR? There are some parts I don't love but all in all I think it's pretty good.

Well there is a lot there. I think im keeping this one for quite a while though.
Oh, and yes, LOTR is MUCH harder to read than the hobbit, but worth it, IMO.

To me it was too long, boring (do we need page after page of walking and random boring landscape?), and confusing (why did almost everyone have 2 or 3 names?).

I do have to say I didn't hate all of it, I rather liked the just Frido and Sam sections.

Well, yes I admit he did get a little wordy at times and I never quite understood the name thing....
