also cats are much more clean!
dogs sence of hygiene: roll in a dead animal or mud puddle
cats sence of hygiene: licking everywhere taking hours and making sure not to miss a spot
Then all three cats and both dogs I've had in the past don't know the rules.
Cats: Pile dead mice in the corner under the blanket and let them rot, then drag them into the house. Sleep with roadkill. Mess in the mud. Clean self several times a day and still stink like heck.
Dogs: Catch coons and such, walk up to a human, and hand over the catch. Sleep in shed on straw bed. Walk around, get pet. Get a bath every week and smell a whole lot cleaner than the cats.
