"Alan? Oh, yes, I'm probably the only one." Frosty replied almost briskly, getting to his feet and attempting to dust himself off while still retaining some pride.

Toby watched as Frosty dusted himself off. "Is… Alan… always like that? I mean, using her… powers, to get what she wants?" He shook his head and slumped back against the seat, leaning into the window. "Never mind. That was a stupid question, just ignore me."

Frosty snorted. "Well, they are her powers. They've been extremely useful in missions." He hesitated. "As for everyday use... she's stubborn. And bossy. But, ultimately.. she's an honest person. Though she has secrets."

"Honest? Huh." Toby said. He wanted to see her again, but at the same time he never wanted to even hear her name.

Mr. Hanson's phone chirpped, causing him to furrow a brow at his screen. He finally looked around at the students in the class. He stood and coughed getting the classes attention.

"I completely forgot to do role call. He picked up the clipboard and started calling names. Staring hard at each of them as they replied.

The bell finally rang signalling the change in class.

Mr. Hanson held up his phone and shouted over the commotion of students gathering their belongings, "Grace, Peter, Brisa, Jessi, Bleed.... Bleed-ine? Yeris, Fritz, Sherri, Delilah, Zion! I need to see you at my desk!"
Yris shook her head at the mispronunciation of her name, staying put until the other horde of students filed out of the room, leaving only them in the room.
Virio found himself genuinely curious as to what was happening, and made it his newfound message to put the pieces of the cursed puzzle he found himself a part of together.

"What?" Wolfram asked quizzically. "I mean...I guess I never thought about...Alice, serious, please get up." He snatched her arms, pulling her up. "Are you hurt? Please tell me, Alice. Are you physically hurt?z,
She gave him a confused smile, "What could have possibly happened?" She asked sarcastically pulling herself to her feet. "This jerk of tree tripped me with it's stupid fallen off branch." She said squinting sideways at a big old oak that had been hollowed out some time ago, likely by a lightning strike. "I was just thinking it'd be fun to be a tree, cause you could screw with people and laugh at them." Alice sighed, after she'd stopped crying, she had started to feel better, but the serious looks on their faces pulled her back to the grim reality that was her life now. "Never mind, I'm fine. I guess it's time to go?"

"Is… something wrong, sir?" Jessi asked.

Peter looked taken aback, and instantly started worrying that he'd said something wrong. Or, the teacher was just rude. Or...
His thoughts were cut off when Jessi spoke up. He stared at her for a second, then back at the substitute. Then he slowly realized that most of the names that had been called were familiar.

Brisa glanced up from where she was packing up her books, surprised at the sound of her name being called, and a sinking feeling beginning in her stomach. She pulled her heavy backpack onto her back and walked up to the front of the class to join the others, a confused and apprehensive look on her face. “What is it?” She asked quietly, her eyes flickering. She suddenly had an acute awareness of the key in her pocket.

"Is… something wrong, sir?" Jessi asked.
He sighed and ignored her pointed question.

The class room finally empty of all but one kid who'd chosen to stick around, Mr. Hanson finally started talking.
"I'm sure you're all aware of what the Pure are looking for..." He said, the inflection falling somewhere between a statement and a question. "I'm here to remind you, that even if your "friend" runs off leaving all of you behind, that's not going to stop us from killing any of you." he set his phone on a projector on the desk. A video popping onto the white board.

It was Jessi's house, Lachlan was sitting on the couch next to Camilla who had woken up and was sitting next to him with her arms wrapped around her knees. There was no audio, but Lachlan seemed to be talking to her.

Mr. Hanson waited for them to take in what he was showing them.

"I'm sure at least one of you knows something about the key. And you're either going to go get it, or you're going to convince Alice to get it." He took a deep breath, "If you don't cooperate, we'll kill them. If you try to warn them, we'll kill you all." He said gesturing to the video, "You have 3 hours to bring me the key, I'll be here. After 3 hours your friends will be dead. And we'll start killing each of you, one by one. " He said, a smirk curling one side of his mouth.

Peter's eyes widened. He stared numbly at the screen, finding himself unable to comprehend what Mr. Hanson was saying. His fingers drummed wildly against his leg.
Silence.
When Peter had finally gained the ability to think after being threatened by his substitute teacher- who, in retrospect, he should've just assumed was a member of a secret organization of people intent on wiping out all the inhumans on the planet -his first thought was of his sister.
Ah, frick. I need Grace. She could totally figure this out.

Fritz felt his hands begin to heat up from the pure hatred he felt towards this man. At this point Fritz didn't care if the whole building burned down, as long as this Hanson fella was in it. Key, that stupid key. He watched as Jessi pleaded with him to not hurt anyone, which only made his hatred for the man burn more.

(Lol brain dead fruit oegb 12:45 good night)
