Toby kept walking. He glanced at Taylor again to see she was already out of sight. There was a man in a large trench coat, with teal hair & a mask that covered the lower have of his face staring at him with a look that said "don't be stupid Toby. Call him already." When Toby looked at him again he was gone. He pulled out his phone and smacked it a couple times to get it to work. When it turned on he carefully dialed a number. He sighed and pressed call. After only two rings a mans voice picked up.
"Hello? Toby? Are you okay?" The man asked.
"Ca-can you pick me up? I don't really know where I am." Toby said. "I'm on the street with the large statue. Do you know what I'm talking about?"
"Yes, I'll be there in five minutes."
"Thanks Charlie." Toby said and hung up. Sure enough, when five minutes passed a cop car with the lights flashing came pulling up to the side of the road. Inside was a man who appeared to be in his early fifties dressed in a police uniform. Toby walked up and got in the car. "Thank you. I'm really sorry to bother you." Toby said, staring out the window with Alpha laying on his lap.
"Of course. And no you didn't bother me, it was a slow day at work." Charlie said. "So what happened?"
"I was at the park and there was a person. The person did some weird enchanting stuff to me and a few others. I panicked and I bolted. And then I got lost." Toby left out the part about the person being a woman, in case Charlie took it the wrong way. He also left out the fighting, knowing how worried Charlie would get. Charlie glanced at him through the rear view mirror, knowing that Toby didn't tell him the entire story. He let it be, thinking that Toby would tell him if he wanted him to know.
"Why do you have the lights on?" Toby asked curiously.
"Because picking you up is an emergency." Charlie replied and smiled. When they got to Toby's apartment building they both got of the car. "Let me walk you up." Charlie said. They walked up to Toby's apartment in silence, until they got to his door. "Thank you Charlie." Toby said and hugged him. Charlie hugged him back. "Anytime. Remember, if you need anything don't wait to call me. It doesn't matter how busy I am, I will come get you. Now let go of me kid, you're getting me wet." Charlie said, only half joking about the last part. Toby walked inside & kicked off his backpack, shoes, socks, and sweater by the door. He didn't dry off before he face planted into the sofa, with Alpha asleep on the for next to him.
