While Misty had her eyes closed, Rivers scent slowly began to fill her senses and thoughts swirled around her head. River... Why are we so similar? Memories filled her mind of back on Elemians. She remembered an old Sage that she met who traveled to other dimensions in his youth. He told her many things about dimensions in general but only a few stuck out to her. One of which was the fact that no matter how different the dimensions might be, there is always doppelgangers. They might be different but in general, they are the same person. Once Misty remembered that she lept out of her seat, she knocked over Delilah and Zion and scared the life out of them. She said sorry and cuddled them for a moment before shifting into her human form and tapping River on the shoulder. "Meet me outside real quick, Riv. I need to talk to you about something privately," she muttered. Then she grabbed Svelhjart and hopped out of the car and walked quite a ways away.
River stared at her friend with obvious shock and confusion, before snapping open the door and stalking out of it grouchily.
She marched up to her, muttering about how there was homicidal Firestein soldier maniacs trying to kill them and Misty wanted to chit chat, but nevertheless she still waited by her expectantly. "What's wrong? Hurry, the others are gonna--" As though on a timer, Wolfram's car hurled out of the parking lot, wheels screeching as he accelerated at an unholy speed, ignorant of River's absence. "--Leave without us."

"Now you know how I feel," Misty commented.

She took a deep breath and stepped up closer to River, her sword at her side.
"Riv, look. I was thinking..." she swallowed the lump in her throat and her head began to spin. She took a step back and groaned as she massaged her temples but pushed through the pain and looked directly into Rivers eyes.
"River, you know how we've been noticing that we're so similar? I put things together as I remembered something from an old teacher of mine."

She took another deep breath and finally uttered the words that she could barely believe.
"River Fleur, I am Misty Hero. Your doppelganger."

Bleddyn shrugged indifferently and focused on the floor. The patterned mat swirled before her eyes, confirming the mental turmoil that was looming.
Petty....this is all so petty...I am. Look at Aunt Tayn and Uncle Thomas...and we're just...I'm not helping anything...why...

Ash elbowed her dense husband once more. He finally got the hint and let his body morph into a much more space conservative canine. She briefly scratched between the wolf's ears, approving of his overdue realization.

Bleddyn clambered onto the seat and settled down closest to the window. She pressed her face up against it and remained heavily silent. Connor turned to lay his muzzle on her lap and huffed, expectant of a pat or two, but she remained unresponsive.

Ash watched her daughter for a long moment, then turned back to Jenna. "Don't feel bad, Jenna," she mused quietly. Her eyes were glistening after seeing her daughter so distant and for a painfully obvious reason. "It's not you that's inflicted this upon us all."

Jenna sighed. "I just feel so… clueless. I can't help but think that maybe if I stuck around with the heroes I could've helped stop them permanently, and people-" Tayn and Thomas "-wouldn't be dead." She sighed again, and stared out the window at Indigo's van.

Ash's hand was back on Connor's furry head, fingering the sleek fur absentmindedly.
"I didn't fight in the ultimatum war, either," she quietly reminded her troubled friend, following along Jenna's unsaid sad train of thought but not allowing herself to go forward with the self-blame. "I was just in New Zealand doing the comparatively effortless work of freeing captives." As she was transported back to that glorious day of gleeful mass liberation, she had to laugh lightly at a certain memory. "Annnnnd inadvertently meeting my husband." Her fingers curled into a halfway fist and she booped the wolf's nose playfully before continuing with gently positive resolve. "But we're indeed here all over again. Every one of us is once again key to someone's survival. Just like how your part then was for Toby's." As she smiled, she was fighting tears again, as if her own determination was somehow emotionally detrimental. "And we will overcome this. For them."

"You did a wonderful job at freeing them. If you didn't, they would most likely still be stuck there." Jenna said. She smiled when Ash mentioned meeting Connor. "You are right. We shouldn't dwell on the past."

(I love how you think you can't write when noice simple things like this exist)

"But we shouldn't ever forget what has been lost for the greater good," Ash pointed out with appropriate solemnity. Her traveling fingers found a knot behind Connor's left ear and she gave him a disapproving frown. He had the grace to look generally ashamed- he should; bet I'd find that same exact same festering tangle in his hair. "Nor should we let our past be lost to time. The past often holds keys to the future, especially in this ironical turmoil. There's so many connections between then and now..." She trailed off as she finished working with the defeated knot and then shook her head dismissively. "Enough of my weird philosophy."

Jenna nodded. Ash was very good with words. She frowned as Wolfram sped off after River got out of the car. "Should we follow him or wait for the others?" She asked.
