«We Could Be Legends»

Wolfram knew the wolf wasn't going to be the easiest to carry, but he did not expect his injured arm to roar to life, shrieking it's protest at the extra weight added to it. Drawing in a sharp breath, he held Connor firmly, pleading silently for his arm to quit aching.

Brisa noticed the pained look on Wolfram’s face and remembered his wounded arm. You can do it! She thought, silently praying for him to have strength.

Wolfram glanced around, originally to see if Sherri and Bleddyn had gotten up and followed them, but met Brisa's gaze instead. He gave a half-smile, giving a slight nod of reassurance.

Brisa gave him a small smile in return and glanced back to where Lily was floating, watching her for a moment before looking back and raising her eyebrows a barely perceptible amount.

River didn't even try to hide the grin on her face as she saw Lily hanging limply in the air, the girl's feet a good foot off the ground. It quickly faded as she turned back to Connor.

"Okay, Ash. You support his middle so that he isn't sagging between us." River said, bending to pick up Connor. "Ready." She growled, her tail twitching violently as the sound of gunshots filled her highly acute ears.

Ash kept her arms loosely cradled beneath Connor's chest as she got up. Though they had his weight evenly dispersed between them for the most part, he still wasn't going to be an effortless carry. She glanced to her right at Wolfram, acutely aware of the pain he'd induced by helping. "Thanks so much, you two."

Wolfram's gaze flickered to her for a moment, before giving a very slight, one-armed shrug, the best he could while holding a wolf anyway. "It's the least I can do for dragging you and your family into this mess."

(Should we bring the Pure to the scene? Or are we going to drag Connor forever?)
(I knew someone was going to ask this sooner or later. Once we drag Connor back to the rest of the group, I promise you will have a chance to kick some Pure into oblivion.)

Sherri patiently waited to fight the enemy.

Now that she'd secured her grasp around the unconscious wolf, Ash was comfortable with taking longer strides and did so with only slightly tremulous legs. "You're really going to keep blaming yourself, aren't you?" She kept her eyes on the obstacle-rich road before them. "Look around, Wolfram. If you hadn't dragged us into this mess, we'd all be dying along with this city."
