I've heard some people boasting about how they'd taken down over ten of us in one day. We always cringe at stories like that." She shivered.

Lena nodded. "We'd learned from experience. As soon as we heard that loud panting noise, we'd run as fast as we could. It took a couple of deaths for us to finally realise what they were capable of."

"I've seen one of those," Silver shook her head. "It. . . well, it grabbed hold of some of the hens in the metal dens below me and carried them away. I've never seen a thing so fierce. You must have been very brave to escape so many of them!"​

Lena looked at the fire in amazement. "What's that?" She leaned forward to touch the flames, before recoiling in pain.

Silver shuddered. "I can't imagine getting used to seeing such horrors. Those animals . . . the one I met *wanted* to kill. He didn't even eat those he did-in, he just left one of them, as if it had been some sort of toy he was now bored with! They're bloodthirsty." A fearful thought flew through her mind, and she glanced warily around, as if to assuage her fears. "Are there any or them in this place?" Maybe this "adventure" wasn't such a good idea after all.​
