"Maybe.." She replied. "But you wouldn't accept me anyway because of who I am."
"Nonsense," He smiled warmly. He nodded toward the dozens of hippocampi behind him. "It doesn't matter who you are, as long as you don't have evil intentions." He smiled again.
"Well.." She started, looking up at him. "I have been looking for a band for a long time.." Her brilliant blue and white scales flashed in the light of the ocean as her white mane swayed gently in the current. She looked familiar in a way..like someone Amouris had met before.
The man forced a hackamore onto Kotori, yanking carelessly on the reins. She squealed in pain, rearing, only to be whipped brutally. She stopped at last, standing with her head hung.

He flicked his smooth tail, his fins extended to catch as much water as possible. "I think you've come to the right place," He said kindly. "I must ask you, though - Do you know of the hippocampi called Ares?"

The mare's green eyes suddenly became wide as she looked down. "Yes.." "I know of him." "Why?"
(Sweet.)
Jackal awoke, covered in dust. He had been laying on the ground all night. He got up and shook. He looked around. He looked at all the happy foals playing. A smile spread across his face. H e turned toward Kotori to show her the foal. Then relized she was gone. He looked into the sky and whinnied shirlly. He put his head over the fence. He whinnied weakly for her.
Persephone slowly opened her eyes, and yawned. She was still in the corral with the rest of the Band. She gently picked her head up off of Knoton's shoulder, and nibbled on some dry, dead grass beneath her.
Laura walked slowly around the corral, trying to get some energy out.

"How much fer her?" The other man asked, ignoring the pained whinnies His scruffy beard needed to be washed, his overalls beginning to wear unattractively. "5 grand." The first man clenched his jaw, as well as Kotori's reins, refusing to change. "I guess so," The second man wrote out a check in his fake checkbook, ripping it out and handing it to the first man. "I'll take 'er if that's fine by you." He yanked Kotori's reins, squeezing her lips even more. "So, I can call you at 853-973-8394?" He asked. "Yes, siree," The buyer asked, shoving Kotori into the trailer and slamming the door. "Your name's Raymond Everdel?" He asked. "Yes," The second man said before waving and hopping into his truck. He then pulled out his driver's license. The name printed on there was indeed not Raymond Everdel.
