☆☆☆Fresher Starts. Moving More☆☆☆

We will probably stay here until 10:30-11 like usual and we still need to go to other property for afternoon to check our trail, stands, etc. we haven’t been there since last season
In my experience, deer like to get up and move around during the middle of the day. You may be missing opportunities by not being in the stand from 11 AM to 2 or 3 PM.

Never heard of them. @Nabiki has a good video on here and Polyface Farms has some good ones too. I just need to get over the hurdle of doing the first one. I put out a call on Ohio’s thread but no one answered. There are quite a few people living within an hour of me that have quail and rabbits. Maybe they misread my question and thought I wanted them to do instead of mentoring me. Who knows 🤷‍♀️.
We would be happy to help, but guessing we would be about a 4+ hour drive.....I have a couple videos on quail processing but didn’t take any of the rabbit processing. There’s lots of good videos on YouTube and I believe @Sara L keeps both quail and rabbits and may have some video.

When I was much younger I knew we had chickens. We had lots of “chicken” soup, stew, etc. It wasnt until I I was in my late teens that I even found out we also had rabbits and most of said chicken was actually rabbit.
As a teen I lived with my other grandparents and they’re the ones that would just do stuff while I was at school. I was allowed to do 4h for a year, but not allowed to have an animal. Idk y. So, whereas I’ve been around it my entire live, I’ve never participated or had any type of knowledge passed onto me. Extremely sad! Teach the next generation people! It is worth your while. (This comment isn't directed at the earlier conversation, just a frustrated vent about passing along knowledge in general)
I'm sorry. We butcher our own hogs too...i guess I was blessed to grow up where I learned that meat and eggs ( my parents let me start having chickens from an early age) dont just come nicely prepackaged from the grocery store.
There is a lot of work that goes behind that sausage patty (good stuff homemade sausage).

I really appreciate the offer. That is way too kind of you! 🥰

Yep, been there, done that including beef too.

Thats all an uncle of mine eats. Homegrown hogs. He raises about 6 each year, but sends them off to processing. I can taste the difference. His pigs had a stronger taste and my chicken eggs have a creamier, or fuller?, taste than store bought. My quail only eat feed and their eggs taste “normal”. Need to fix that. I’m getting them started with pumpkin right now.

Show me show me!
