♡ New Ducklings: UPDATED ♡

Pics
Yeah, everything looks like it should. But the eggs are too thick to clearly see anything, let alone anything moving, the whole run. Eggsacks right on time, some dark blobby in embryo-form getting bigger, with some vague spiders around it, more and more spiders forming, but already after day 10 it was too dark to see anything anymore. So no clue since then. So I guess I'm going to do a gentle water test on day 31. Unless someone tells me to do it a day later or something.
Have you asked in the incubating forum and shown pics? @WVduckchick might be able to help if she can see pics of the candled eggs.

Beautiful adorable ducklings @Cayuga momma :love

hahaha that cat! How recognizable!

Lovely ducklings. I wish mine would hurry up and hatch, grrrr. It's day 30 now, and still no movement or anything :'( Tommorow the water test I guess. :'(
hope is afloating :'(

No, no, please do not float them in water. Too many false negatives and if they are alive, you should be able to candle and know if they are dead or alive.
I'm not sure what breed your eggs are, but usually duck eggs are even easier than most chicken eggs, so maybe you are using too weak of a light for candling? 200+ lumens do the best, the higher the lumens, the better. 400...500 is great.

I assume you can at least see the air cell. Look directly next to the air cell for any "clear" gaps between the body and the membrane. Also look for the air cell to be out of shape, from what it was the first 25 days. When they get into hatching position, the air cell will "draw down" and extend into the fat end of the egg.

Try taking some pics to post, and maybe we can see what's going on.

All sold here are 150 lumen. We had a home-build one but it eeeh....*cough* caught fire.. so we are not going to that anymore lol...
I've ordered another one that doesn't say how much lumen it has, but has good revieuws. If that doesn't work either (this will be the x-number ordered that are too low) I lie down, cry, and give up.
Ill try that one out tommorow.
I will try a pic then. Right now only the airsack is visible and the rest is just a black, with some blacker spots, less blacker spots, 50 shades of black.

Side question; since yesterday I hear something in the incubator now and then. It sounds a bit between a thud, crack and an egg exploding (might sounds more like an egg exploding because this is my fear then actually..). This is a new machine. And also the first time a machine is directly sitting next to me, since previeuws automatic turners made a LOT of noise and therefor were banned to the garage..Can it be a movement where a chick bumps it's egg to the side of the incubator wall or something? They are for sure not moving when I am watching. Do they do this? In this machine the eggs have a bit of room. How much do eggs move when they can? How much sounds makes a chick when trying to get out?

Usually the higher lumen flashlights show how many lumens they are, so the one you ordered may be low also. But hopefully its a good one.

Eggs do bobble on occasion, but many people never see it. Sometimes they move early, when they are first getting into position, like 2 days before hatching, then they start moving more when its time to hatch. It also depends on the surface they are on. I lay my eggs on rubber shelf liner, so I rarely see much movement. Sounds can be obscured by fans too, sometimes its very hard to hear them peep.

As far as exploding eggs... you should smell a bad egg before it explodes. Especially if its sitting right next to you. Be sure and pay attention if you smell anything that seems off.
Hopefully they start pipping for you soon. :fl

Luckely not smelling anything...I heard that a lot that you can smell that from miles on here, but my brain is not listening! :p
It's now exactly day 30. Wait no 29. 29,5. I put them in on april fools around this exact time.
