Is there a recommended feed i can switch to that would be ok for my drakes to eat?

Flock Raise with oyster shell on the side, or a chick starter/grower with oyster shell on the side

I give mine Layena, haven't had issues with the drakes eating it... but they will still need oyster shell on the side, and if shell-less eggs continue, calcium citrate works wonders!

Ya know, I prefer to give them flock raiser, but the adults prefer pellets to crumble... unfortunately, pellet flock raiser only shows up here occasionally and it's $5 a bag more expensive than the crumble!

I wonder if my ducks would prefer pellets. this is my ducks' first season laying, i think that may be part of it. I also got a fart egg today with a normal shell on it.

Give them time to adjust if you try pellets, you know how ducks are with new things, lol...

But honestly, it is better all around for them and us... contrary to many others, mine *do not* like their food soupy or even wet, crumble is a bit too dusty sometimes so ends up being too dry... also, with pellets, they clean up any spillage quite well... I have some yard bird bantams that like to jump in the food bowls sometimes and kick out the feed, crumble is harder for the ducks to clean up but pellets they just vacuum, lol...

This is what I feed my calls, with oyster shell on the side. So far so good it seems.

Took 4 ducks to Alabama this weekend for a state breed meet. There were 44 Calls entered. Over half were whites. Mine placed very well considering the competition. Most of my ducks were purchased from people I was competing against here. Next show in two weeks!

This is my drake that placed 2nd out of 6 and right behind the drake that won BB and went on to win Reserve Bantam over the whole show. I was pretty proud of that small accomplishment.

I took this young hen even though she has some black on her bill, I was interested to see how and if she would place considering. I don't think they faulted her much if any for her bill. She placed fairly.

My old man drake was being too sassy for pics. Everytime he was positioned just right he would try to scare me out of his pen right before I snapped the pic. I did get a cute shot of his shenanigans. View attachment 1256234

I do still buy crumbles for a couple of my serama pens, but even then, I usually mix some pellets in with it, they make less mess with it that way.
