I have Graves Disease. I wasn’t responding to anything and my thyroid was choking me out. At first they thought it was cancerous. I had to have emergency removal. I’m on levothyroxine now and hypothyroid most of the time.

You are lucky because the recovery is ridiculous. I had staples and stitches. I was itchy and cranky. Then going out in pubic was always fun.
My sister has that and had to had hers removed as well. It took a while for the doctors to find the right medication and dosage to put her on for her to start feeling normal. Quite a while actually. She was miserable until they got it right. She's much better now.

Did she get the Thyroid Eye Disease too later on? I did and it’s frustrating

My husband has one from a chainsaw that kicked back into the top of his knee. There’s about an inch gash above his knee an a nasty scar. He says it’s still super sensitive.

He was 8 helping his aunt.
I did mine with a circular saw that caught in my long johns and pulled it right into my knee.

I have Graves' disease too. I've heard anecdotally that it is often triggered by prolonged periods of stress. That was the case for me. I was diagnosed after 2 years of working under a boss who hated me. I went into remission after getting the lowest stress job I've ever had in my life.

Life is so much more wonderful without stress.

Mine started after I had an iv medication for 6 months. They blame that, but it could’ve been the fact that I was

Stress can do so much to your body and it is so hard to avoid it.

Someone on here told me my dr is an idiot because it’s genetic. No one else in my family has thyroid issues. They said it can’t be caused by anything but genetics 🙄 Glad you have heard otherwise.

So glad that you are feeling better!

I don't know? I've never heard of that. She did just get cataract surgery done on both eyes so now she is seeing better than ever.
It makes your eyes bulge out. I had to have the whole socket of both eyes fractured. It basically swells the muscles and it pushes on your eyes. It’s painful, but a new med just got approved for it. I’m waiting for it to get to the hospital so I can try it.
