Poor things... it's not their fault, though. I'm not planning to get them again. I have Chanteclers this year, so that I can hatch my own meat birds. For CX or other technological "miracle" breeds, you don't have to raise them that way unless you're in a hurry. You can feed them in the evenings and let them forage the rest of the day like your other poultry. It's not as efficient, not as quick, but much more humane, I think.
It's hard to get motivated to wash ours. Our gravel road is muddy/dusty/slushy most of the year--lately, mostly muddy. You gotta wash 'em once in a while, but by the time you get to the paved roads they look the same.
But then we do get to live way out in the back of beyond, so there's that.
If we don't wash ours at least a few times a year we get so much conglomerate built up underneath they start clunking.

5'7" is a very nice height. I can beat that, but only by an inch and a half. Used to be two, but I guess I've settled.

We'll most likely even be missed in the infrastructure upgrades currently proposed. Slow internet is annoying, but I'm okay with that all the same. If I could move further out, I absolutely would.
