We took a trip out to East Texas and left the babies alone for almost 8 hours. We didn’t leave the light on and they did just fine.

I’m so sorry to hear about the poor hen. We all have times where we wish we had done more.
And I’m sad to hear the ducks have left. Time for round 3!
Updated pictures of the babies! Ignore the green stuff full of shavings. I took that out. It was a mixture of electrolytes and probiotics.

I know that normal people can trust eggs from a store for week.
I am not normal.

Coat them in a thin.layer of mineral oil and keep in the fridge. They can last months. Mine lasted 7 months, no floaters.

Is it bad that we still eat eggs from the store like 3 weeks later? They don't stink or float… . My chickens should be laying soon and I won't have to buy store eggs, but until then…

Btw I decided on my way back from discarding Adeline's body it was absolutely necessary that this Friday's mommy drink (my Friday night tradition)be extra strong so I went through a drive through and got me a Long Island iced tea. So thankful I'm in Louisiana right now where drive through mixed drinks are a thing. I need this tonight. I CANNOT believe how much this affected me.
