I love Captain Jack (but then who doesn't?). Sadly I could never really get into watching Torchwood. Every season, it would start out amazing, but then it always got too dark for me to handle

Yep. It ran on BBC for 3 or 4 seasons. Some great stuff in terms of wit and humor, but really grim, twisted plot lines
