I am not sure I would be able to actually sleep in this at night...I'd have to go to the hotel for sleeping, but I could stay here during the day:

I thought the egg tooth was on the tip of the beak. This chick is over a week old in this pic. It has a very obvious egg tooth while hatching but it's been gone. Is there more to the egg tooth than just the little spike on the end of the beak that they chip away with? If so my bad, i just always thought that's all there was to it.
To my understanding, if it doesn’t fall off then when the beak grows out it will stay stuck further up.. I will double check this though.
I saw a thread recently where someone’s chick had a stuck egg tooth and it caused a deformity. I didn’t follow it though.

So as the chick grows the beak will grow too, kinda like our fingernails grow, perhaps this is the part where it grows from and is just more obvious on this chick because of color?

and @KikisGirls I'm pretty sure that IS the hotel :gig

That looks dreamy but I can't help but wonder bow they keep the bugs out. I DO NOT do bugs! Large insects disgust me!
Beach = sea breeze = no bugs.

Thought it was weird, but no bugs MOST of the time. Absolutely amazing. Sleeping on the beach, when the sea breeze stops, if you are close to the marshes, the mosquitos appear. Bug netting required.

Y'all are correct. All things in moderation. Except obnoxious drunks. One of those is too many.

I just have this vision of a Caribbean cockroach crawling into bed with me while I'm asleep. :sick

What type of feeder do you use?

Thanks Tes! I use the little store bought feeder and waterer. Very safe. No sharp edges and very clean. Exactly this feeder & watered pictured. It may be the egg tooth like you & pirate mentioned although it seems more like the same consistency as the cere as opposed to "beak" material. It's not bothering the chick so hopefully it'll go away on its own.

Doesn’t look like it’s any cause for worry, so that’s good!
I think the most likely cause is from an abrasion or repeated trauma from metal feeders or sharp wire that the beak lumps over to “protect.” Interesting!

:celebrate
Guess i'm going to Texas to lay on the beach and glamp in Kikis back yard! :woot

There is no such thing as a good beach in Texas. It's a fake beach. Florida and California have beaches, the Caribbean islands have beaches, Mexico has beaches. Texas has sand piles with silty salt water.
How do you hunt, with a Bow and arrow?
I hunt with a debit card, usually. But sometimes I bring cash.
