I understand that, our pair have been chosen carefully to avoid that. Our female could use some work in the confirmation department but our male should balance out any issues. Both are very healthy, and fantastic dogs. Ours just get ear infections, but so does our Mastiff. Our Mastiff hates people though, and if we have family over they have to understand that if they look him in the eyes or even talk to him then he feels threatened and will bark. He has never ever threatened to bite though, he’s too good of a dog for that. Just doesn’t like people, and frankly I don’t blame him.Blech!!! Booh to German Shepherds! My dad is just all over them and out of all five, ONE has been healthy and mentally sound. These were all German or Czech lineage dogs.
First pup was beautiful. She couldn't swallow properly. Had to be put down. Second one was a lanky girl, sweet as can be. Hips went bad at six months, had to be put down. Third was a German import, physically perfect. MENTAL. Attacked our goats, nearly killed them, tore the garbage apart, gnashed her teeth at us kids. I hated her. She was awful and vicious. After the second goat attack, put her down. Fourth one, gorgeous solid black male, very sound. Utterly humorless and couldn't care less about anyone but my dad. Wouldn't play with other dogs, constantly harassed our other golden we had, murdered cats (got mine and broke her leg and she nearly starved in the woods). He lived fourteen years. In his later life, he was alright. Fifth one. Beautiful, playful, obedient. FINALLY!
I also can't do English Bulldogs. Blech. I've met too many awful, poorly behaved, aggressive and inbred ones. Only a handful that don't look like they're going to fall over dead at any second. Sorry, @littleprairieheartsfarm! Your big guy is gorgeous though![]()

I will never own a German, they are the epitome of aggressive, and so prey-driven. All of our dogs are farm animal friendly, even our cat. He watches over the peeps too.
