➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Good morning everyone! I was up until 2 am working on homework and it seems like that will be how I spend tonight as well.

Anyways! How about this for exciting? One of our 6 month old Cayuga's is..........dun dun dun......broody? She’s hissing at me and made herself a perfect little nest, and all of the eggs that are in the box are under her. We don’t have a drake so the eggs are infertile. :gig Sweet Delilah isn’t acting so sweet right now.

Why do we get so many broody animals here? :th
Stupid question... how long after laying their first egg, do birds usually go broody?

Good luck with homework, lately I’ve been actually missing it.
Funny how they’re always broody when you don’t need them, huh? Haha.

I think it totally depends on the individual bird. I have read about people with pullets that went broody shortly after they started laying. But then some hens never go broody. :idunno

I was supposed to start getting routine allergy shots to increase my immunity to cats, but it never really happened.
It really does help. I’m allergic to dogs and live with two. Six years of shots made it possible. I still live on Claritin daily. :)

I dunno what Kiki is on, I’m all for rain right now.

I’m with you. I heard on old farmer on the farm report say the Texas climate is long periods of extreme drought interrupted by periodic floods. He is so right! You could loose a golf ball in some of the cracks we have in the ground.

Thanks! These 5 week classes are insane to try and keep up with. :th And I honestly don't mind if she goes broody mostly because we don't need the eggs, and we can't seem to sell them either. I just feel bad for her sister who is lost without her.

How's the spider bite?
Then you can take a nap!
It’s pretty good. It’s been 10 days or so, I think? Started turning really dark and swelling went down after a week. Now it only gets a little swollen and painful when I’m up on it for a long time but I’m mostly not limping anymore. The first five days I could barely put weight on it, really felt like a hot poker in my ankle.
I’m not very good at taking pills  but the antibiotics helped. We had a bug guy come and spray the house and he confirmed it was a black widow bite.

My step-MIL recommended a doctor but it seems like such a hassle. I’d have to get shots once a week (I think) for years just to make a dent? Ehhh. Not to mention I’m pretty sure it’s not covered by insurance.
