➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Thanks for sharing this.... i'm already tired of changing the water out three times a day... was going to try this setup this afternoon. I'll make sure they can't knock it over!

You're welcome! This is what it looks like.

It's kinda hard to see but that little cord has a hook on each end so we can attach it to the rack we're using. Then the baking dish is underneath. The jug can move but can't move much. They can't knock it off of the rack or turn it over. I couldn't believe they were able to knock the jug off with that much water in it. The stinkers! I still have to refill the water but it's not quite as often as the smaller trough type feeder we were using. Sry for the messy pic. I need to totally wipe the insides of the tote. LOL

I'm a total goober! I forgot that I posted the pic already. :gig

Thanks for the picture, Prairie dog. :love

DUDE. This is amaze-balls (a real term used to describe incredibly badass art). Sorry, there will be no one-upping by this gal! I ain't that good.
What size paper you use? Huge, I hope. Blown away, Tessie.

The ducklings are trying to eat the pee pads that I have down! And they also try to eat the pine shavings underneath! :barnie OMGOSH! They like toddlers that put everything in their mouths! Plz tell me they outgrow this phase?!? Are the pine shavings going to hurt them? Can't they choke? UGH! I was in there trying to clear out the old pee pads and put new ones down and freaked out one of the Pekin and it ran toward its water, AND TRIED GOING THRU THE JUG! And of course, got stuck. Now picture this. I have the handle of the milk jug facing the wall. And I have a hole cut out on each of the sides facing the front. The dumb duck went thru one hole all the way to part way out the other hole. :eek:If the poor thing wasn't panicking so bad and causing me to freak out because of it, I wish I could've gotten a picture of it. But my momma instincts kicked in and I had to rescue it right away. Had to try and wedge the one leg that was stuck part way in back out and then its wing and head thru both holes. And then the best part where I had to cuddle it telling her it'll be ok. :hit These ducklings are gonna drive me crazy! But I still love em! :love

ps,
Should I forego the pee pads now and just stick to pine shavings? It's just that the pee pads are so much easier to just roll up and get rid of.
It's only been 2 weeks ya'll! :th
I agree with @BantyChooks (we're sisters again) - raise them things outside! Much, much easier and it will save your sanity! I will never do ducklings inside every again. Blooie has a great article about the mama heating pad. I used her method with my last ducklings and it went beautifully. I'd rather have a broody duck to do all the work for me, but I've personally never owned a broody duck. Yet. One day. A girl can dream.

Thank you! :love Now we wait for Conan to one-up me. :fl
...or for the legendary Kiki-Sabi collab to happen. hehe.
I want Wasabi's coyote murdering rooster as a refrigerator magnet. I would like kiks first display of talent also as a magnet. I believe that the entire collection should be magnets. Or buttons.

I can’t draw at all so I’m taking Art History instead.
Art history is much better than taking college level art classes. I HATED all my college art classes. I didn't draw a single thing for almost a decade after college. Kinda like I stopped reading books for awhile after college. When you have to do it, it kinda takes the joy out.
Art history, on the other hand, is actually interesting!

I have mad shading skills!
;)
Agree with Tess, you've got more talent when screwing around than a lot of folks in art classes! Though you make a good point, if you don't enjoy it, why take the time? Of course, I still expect you to come out with your collection of kiksabi magnets. There are orders to fulfill.

Thanks Conan. :love I really do want to see your bone field idea someday soon though, I’ll just have to keep nagging until then. ;)
I change paper sizes every time lol. When I draw with ballpoint I prefer to keep it small, it’s fun but it takes forever. I’m pretty sure that pad is 9x12.
