What lethal gene? This one has no color on it yet besides the little bit of gray is was hatched with on its back.
Only white feathers are coming in.
Are you thinking this little one might have that lethal gene?

I'm not sure yet. ( I need to read more but probably won't until tomorrow)What lethal gene?
Yes, white genes can be lethal. There is a "light down lethal" and they are English Whites but in 3 weeks they die or don't make it as little chicks. Some make it but carry the gene.
Who to build a separate pen?![]()
We have a NH hen...We do have a separate pen but there isn't space to attach a run to it and we can't exactly add one to it either. Now the EE boy I want to get rid of because he's so flighty it's annoying!
Out of curiosity, do you know the mix of that boy?
If possible you should keep #2 as well for backup
The EE? No unfortunately, I mean he's turning into a pretty cockerel. I guess we could probably make some Olive Eggers from him and our Marans but they're crazy and he's flighty it would make some baaaad mixes lol
That is a true statement! I'm hoping that the hens will correct some of his flaws. His back isn't the most desirable, and his tail could use a little work.
I a breeding program I'd always try to have backup just incase. One incident could set you back a year or more
That's really true, and much easier than having to go and track down a new breeder.
Thx this one worked.I'll volunteer
Maybe get rid of the EE instead of the NH?
Agree
Lol sounds like a bad idea
If you keep him, you could keep working on that
Why a year? While you wait to grow another roo out?
Where did you get the current one from?
Huh, weird. Works for me.
Try this link. It's the regular one rather than mobile.

I found this:I think they're button which idk if it's a different species altogether or just breed? So not all colors may be in cortunix, idk, but some look similar. Will try to find a cortunix color page
