➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

What is Tristan? He looks like a borzoi.
Looks like one cause she is one. :gig

Pretty dog!
Part Afghan hound or pure?
I'll tell Crazy Lady. :gig Pure Borzoi. Got the papers to prove it. She is show quality, but was kept as a house dog with her brother. Talk about couch potatoes!

She was kept on leash for 3 years because she would go over the 6' privacy fence and run the roads. Shameless hussy!

This breed has a strong prey drive. Small, fuzzy and running?!? Game on! The chihuahua is lucky to be alive. He lets them go first and doesn't run away. He learned.

Nutty she's gorgeous. The sighthounds, borzois and salukis in particular, are my favorite dogs but I don't own them bc I always have multitudes of small critters around that I hold near and dear to my heart lol.

I should have known Borzoi.
Sorry
I recognized the sighthound head and Afghan came to mind. I do love Borzois but prefer Afghans.

They can be trained. But if it runs, play can be fatal.

Jake, Crazy Lady's first, was but a puppy running around with our toddler. Very cute watching them play running back and forth. Jake tripped toddler and went for kill at base of skull before I could move. Left marks, but didn't break the skin. We stopped that game. He raised our kids. RIP Jake. The good ones leave too soon.

Fostered a chocolate lab too. Jake would lay on his belly and play tug of war with his puppy. Too cute. He was still taller than her laying down.

Tristan. :love Finally some longnoses making an appearance around here.
Ahem, the official name is needle nose. :gig

Oh no I totally understand that! I’m just talking about when professors purposely scare their students with the “if you don’t study for 6 hours for every hour of class you won’t pass”. I’m not even exaggerating, my science major biology professors have said that exact sentence. That is where I will never agree with the school system.

Also it will also depend on strong suits. I do extremely well in English and Science courses, but I tend to struggle in Math courses. It all depends upon the person and their drive to learn. Anyone can pass, but it takes someone with drive to pass with flying colors. It is more difficult to get into veterinary school but that’s also because there is only 12 accredited universities compared to the multitude of universities that can complete medical doctorates. That’s why it is more competitive.
Yea, I get that. But I also know people who need to study MORE than the recommended time. I’m not one of them but they’re out there.
And if you don’t “get it” and you’re not driven.. well, y’know.
I agree, it takes real resolve to stay ahead of the game, and I do NOT like scraping by by the skin of my teeth.

And YES, there is a sore lack of vet schools in the US. Not only that, so many people grow up thinking they want to be a vet and don’t understand how rough it is. Surely being an animal doctor is easier than being a human doctor! Nope..
Even worse, some people go into it for the money.. HAH. Yea right.

That's scary! I'm so glad you were watching when that happened. I've kept pits before so I understand proper training being a necessity with all breeds but their prey drive is so hard wired it almost seems like trying to keep a wild animal from doing what is instinctual. The sighthounds have just been bred for a sole purpose for so long. I considered getting a Saluki one day but I just don't want to have to worry about the possible slip up if one gets going and hurts my or someone else's smaller pet (or God forbid child) but they are literally my favorite breed of dog. Hard to find in the states though, from the little bit research Ive done. (I mean salukis only here.) They are still mostly only in the Middle East which is probably for the best. If I ran across one there's no way I could pass it up.
