➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

How would you add to your flock if you can't bring in outside birds? (I want to bring in new genetics but am afraid of Mareks)
Very carefully.
Know who you are buying from.
There are a lot of idiots that sell sick birds.
Research them before you buy from them.
Let me know who you want to buy from and I will research them for you.

Are hatcheries an ok choice as opposed to a breeder? I don't really have any picked out as of yet. I'm sorta at my chicken math imposed limit. But I really want to in the future.

What about hatching egg eBay auctions?
There a some breeds/varieties I want to order from an eBay seller that keeps reposting an auction.

eBay is probably the worst place to buy hatching eggs. A very high percentage of ebay sellers are illegally shipping hatching eggs across state lines. If there is an eBay seller that has what you want, insist on the certificates needed to make the shipping legal. Some sellers on eBay claim they are NPIP certified but do not include the required paper work needed to make the shipment legal.

Try to get references from the sellers.

HECK NO!
If you want hatching eggs you need to be able to investigate the person.
Look for some ON HERE.

Yes, I highly recommend real hatcheries.
Not regular old people like me who call themselves a hatchery or breeder.

I have looked. Nobody here has any.
Eventually I am going to have to source eggs from other people and if I don't find them on here then so be it.
